No. He scored the winning goal with 30 seconds left in regulation, and played again yesterday.

Ok AC - So Tkachuk didn’t play at all yesterday? Sorry for being so completely lost. That concerns me a lot BUT we did win the game. So there is that.

Correct, was announced as a game time decision but didn't take warmups or play.

Rieder took his spot on the 2nd line, Quine and Rinaldo played on the 4th line with Jankowski also sitting. Quine assisted on the 2-0 goal with Rinaldo screening. So a pretty ideal result all things considering.

Tkachuk is a game-time decision again tomorrow they announced, but we'll see. As transplant99 said, if it is a concussion he'd probably already be back in Calgary seeing a specialist. So there's hope for a quicker return I would think.

Benn has shown he is a dirtbag time and time again.

So wish he would feel tough and square up with Lucic.

I am not expecting Tkachuk back. Not for this series, and maybe not for the playoffs. The hit he took followed by those wobbles, it's pretty clear his brain had been bounced around pretty violently. He is a competitor and I'm sure he'll want to get back in, so I hope he doesn't dismiss any symptoms he experiences or fail to report them. Better he recover to actually fulfill expectations of being a future team captain.

I'm thinking he's got bruised cracked or fractured ribs .

Didn't Bergeron play with broken ribs and a punctured lung?

I'm not questioning Tkachuks toughness or durability but I think he was hurt to begin with and this just made it worse.

How nothing disciplinary came of any of it is beyond comprehension. Tkachuk would play im sure if you cut off his arm and let him try . FFS though....to lose him this early sucks big donkey balls.

Its like losing Mcammond In 03 04 right before the playoffs.
The MCI line was doing well and then we lost some others as well.

Everybody has to figure out how to stay engaged on their own now. Hope like hell hell Be back soon.

Too bad Lucic doesn't make him square up.

I don’t like the play, but to me it looks like Tkachuk set him up for his patented “bump back”, and it failed miserably.

Yep, that's what it looked like to me as well.
I don't think there was anything particularly dirty about the play. Just unfortunate.
I still think Benn is super greasy though.

Tkachuk is and has been a warrior from the start and though he has thrown his fair share of questionable to dirty plays and been disciplined for it I think it’s a joke that a player of Tkachuk’s skill (he was our leading point scorer heading into these playoffs) can have a play happen to him like what Jamie Benn did which was as gutless as it gets and nothing is really said of it. Can’t wait for Chucky to be back in and I know it’s most likely the sandwich hit/head bang that is keeping him out and not the Benn spear because Matthew is a warrior.

according to the sportsnet panel, #flames f matthew tkachuk is out with a concussion. If that's the case, it takes about six days (from date of injury) to work through the protocol... If everything goes smoothly.

Pretty much a huge shame the guy is an emotional game changer.

At the same time, how the hell the league managed to ignore that blatant spear is aggravating. I would say that I would hope someone would retaliate but the Flames would probably have their franchise revoked by the league in retaliation.

How does the SN "panel", know anything in regards to a players health?

I mean...sure its a somewhat obvious guess, but thats all it is like anyone else.

If he was concussed....he should have returned to Calgary.

Huh?

Why should he leave the bubble if he is injured?

Travel to rest and recover?

Is Calgary tap water magical or something?

Well, they invented the Fat Johnny story before they realized "unfit to play" was being used by every team for any and all issues. So I could imagine them inventing other stories just because.

I certainly hope it isn't true.
