3 kids including a newborn and wife likely dealing with post-partum AND you are away in a bubble?
I don't see how Rask can't go home.
Though with the money these guys make, you'd think they could hire help but maybe that doesn't work anymore with the pandemic.

It just raises some questions because he could have opted out at the start and avoided all this.
It’s just as speculative to assume he only went cause of team pressure and now wants out.

If post partum depression is in the picture, money is powerless. As it is in general against mental illness.

We do know. Or at least, if you trust Sweeney, you do. If anything, you're speculating that there's more information to be had here when there's no reason to think so.

If I'm wrong, and if other information comes out that there was some additional reason beyond "I'm just not feeling it, would rather be at home with the fam", then I'm prepared to revise my view. But based on the information we have, which, according to the GM, is all there is... he quit.
The guy's a millionaire. His wife and kids will be fine without him for a bit, just as they are when long road trips happen. There are lots of players in this thing who I'm sure miss their families, and there are lots of them who have recently born kids. Ivan Barbashev's first child was born this week and he's currently undergoing the testing procedures to get back into the bubble and into the lineup as quickly as possible, so he can do his job and help his teammates. Bo Horvat's first born arrived in June, and he's leading his team through two games. There are lots of other examples.
I'm perfectly content to judge him.

Kind of a jump for you to make without any knowledge of the family. Not every person who has a child gets post-partum.

Technically every woman gets postpartum, the words literally mean after childbirth. His wife gave birth to a baby, she is postpartum. And this may shock people, but childbirth and the period after it would be difficult on anyone, let alone with two other children in the middle of a pandemic. That doesn't mean to say that she has PPD or the baby blues (although that is possible) it could just be that it is difficult and Rask values his family more than a run at the cup where his heart isn't in it.
It sucks in a sense though at the same time because he is a star player, who is being paid more money than anyone can imagine, to play a sport, and then he isn't playing that sport. So I can see it pretty easily from both sides.

The kid was born in April too, generous use of "newborn".

It shouldn't really matter, because he's obviously right. It was either a hand pass or a goalie interference. There shouldn't have been a third option, and the refs should have worked with Rod to get the call right what ever the challenge is.
The correct thing to do would have been to accept which ever challenge the Hurricanes make.

Well he was in Toronto so that shouldn’t have been the issue..... Almost laid some money on him to win the Conn Smythe, glad that didn’t happen. Yes he is free to quit and go home at any time, just like Boston is free to trade him in the off season. What will happen long term will be interesting, is there a chance his NHL playing days are over? If his heart isn’t in it he shouldn’t be playing.

So you are prepared to judge him on the basis of a tweet, which is a max of 280 characters? I think that's brutal. Family situations are always more complicated. We have no idea what is going on.
But go ahead and make a judgement on the basis of a tweet. I guess this is the world we live in.

Boston's return hasn't looked too good since the return to play. Makes me actually wonder if Friedman was referring to Boston partying nightly in the bubble.
