Your Top Time Machine Destination?
Here's a topic that has come up at parties over the years.
You've just invented a time machine ... what are your top ten destinations? Mine are, not necessarily in order:
1. Jerusalem during or just after the time of Jesus ... how did things actually go down?
2. Jerusalem somewhere around 1120 AD ... just what were the Templars doing under the Temple Mount?
3. Have a beer with Da Vinci ... the guy is such an enigma. He's the person in history I'd most want to meet.
4. Be in attendance for the Gordie Howe/Lou Fontinato fight ... sounds like it might have been the greatest fight ever, unless you were Fontinato.
5. Attend an early Beatles gig at the Cavern Club.
6. Attend a Pink Floyd concert from sometime around 1973.
7. Attend Woodstock.
8. Check out how the Egyptians actually built the Pyramids.
9. Be in the Montreal Forum, Game 6, 1989 finals.
10. Meet Crazy Horse.

Oooooh, I like.
1Rome during the first great fire. Who really started it???
2Like 200 BCE to see the seven ancient wonders. Did the hanging gardens of babylon really exist???
3 Can't think of any of hand, but to see some early gigs of a lot of different artists...
4 just for curiousity maybe berlin like 1935 or so.. be very strange to see no?
5 Jerusalem like 10 BCE
6 Sparta or where-ever the story of the 300 versus 1000000 persians took place.
7 Maybe go see a play in the Globe circa shakespeare era
8 go and visit the incas
9 maybe back to grade one and tell my teachers that I did amount to something someday
And another idea, what era and where would you choose to live???

You mean Thermopylae?
It was actually 300 Spartans, along with 700 Thespians who stood against an army of more then 2 million Persians.
5 million if you want to count all the support troops.
And yes, I would love to go back and witness it.

Thats the one. How do they know the number 2-5 million. That seems a little inflated no?
EDIT I don't know why I even brought that up. No matter the number it would be awesome. I want to see the Frank Miller movie '300' sooo bad

Boy ... that's tough. I'm going to go with Athens, around the time of Socrates or Plato.

I like your picks for #2 and 3, so I'm leaving them
1. Go to Japan during the era of the shogun and samurai.
2. Jerusalem somewhere around 1120 AD ... just what were the Templars doing under the Temple Mount?
3. Meet Da Vinci
4. 1947 in Roswell New Mexico. Was it a weather balloon (I don't think so)
5. Go to an early Led Zeppelin concert
6. Attend Game 6 of the 1989 Stanley Cup Finals
7. Be a streaker right before St.louis scored in OT in game 6 of the Finals. Hopefully long enough to distract the Lightning players
8. Meet nostradamus, find out if he was bs'ing or was accurate
9. go back to 2000 and find the missing votes....
10. Go back and play hockey from a young age (I'd be a pretty good goalie if I did)

Ya that would be great, I guess I would sample a few different times, but anytime around the turn of the common era would be awesome. Ancient Egypt like 2500 BCE would be cool pretty amazing. Also renaissance Italy or Netherlands.

I forgot that one ... I'll drop the Pink Floyd concert in favour of Roswell.

Go all the way back to the creation of man/species and know what really happened. Then come back and create world peace because everyone would know that I'm right...
then technically I'd be like a God.... which would also be sweet...
edit: also I'd LOVE to see LOTS of stuff circa 1939-1945 in multiple venues around the globe.

In no particular order.
Go back to see Atlantis, Go back and see some Dinosaurs, Go back to Montreal 1989, Go back and get some IBM and Microsoft stock.
Last and and least buy land/house before this crazy boom so I could get out of this condo.

I guess I'd go forward in time about 500 years, look at the history books, and be on hand for some of our future history's most noteable events. Do things like:
- Be on hand when we make actual first contact with aliens.
- Play a round of golf on the moon. (I would say Mars, but there's going to be too many sand traps for my liking.)
- Be there when we break the speed of light.
- Go orbital skydiving.

Yeah that is what I was thinking as well.....that or go back and bet on sporting events.

Provided I had a good compliment of arms I would love to travel back about 40,000 years to North America where more animals habitated on our great plains than in Africa.
If I could change history, I'd go back to the area known as San Salvador in 1491 and give the native folk there a bevy of heavy munitions.
Otherwise, I would love to Karakorum as an emissary from the future to Genghis Khan and his court.
I would also love to meet the mythic Lao Tzu, if there was one.
I would travel back to the height of the Mughal Empire in 1570s to be a guest in Akbar's court.
Meet Jesus of course and see what the real story was with him and the mysterious undocumented period in his life.

Most excellent ... that way we wouldn't have to wait until the Flames win the Cup again. We could just zip forward in time to the next Championship. Of course, that'll only be about four months!

I was just reading through Wiki.
I can't wait for the movie either.
I would also love to go back and relive the first, second and third round victories during our Stanley Cup run.

Go 1 year ahead in time and record all the sports scores from that time. Return home and head off to Vegas with my info and make a few large bets
