Two players caught with pot and mushrooms, Heytvelt and Theo Davis. Heytvelt was one of the Zags best players all year and now only hours before a huge home game he's suspended indefintley. The nations longest winning streak now may come to an end.

it is in the best in iterest of the school and all that it has stood for since its founding to be sure that this type of activity is not a part of the school. Kids make stupid mistakes, and forgiveness is very important, but so is learning lessons and upholding school values.

Tough break for the 'zags program, maybe this year they'll have to do it as an underdog like in years past. It seems to suit them better in the tourney.

From my exprience at Idaho, a very high percentage of college athletes do drugs. I would guess at least 1/3 (that's really lowballing it) of any given basketball/football team smokes pot on a regular basis. A lot of them do harder stuff too. These guys aren't the only guys doing it, just the guys that got caught. Suspending these guys will do nothing to stem drug use among college athletes, it's a much broader problem.

So true, but in going to a school like Gonzaga, a jesuit school, a player isn't only going to play ball, they are understanding that they are entering a campus community that upohlds certain ideals. I think that there is really something to be said for that even though the times have changed and there is so much of this stuff going on all over the place.

Theo Davis I geuss has had some problems in the past with acting up so no big suprise. Tough on Heytvelt who was having a great year as the Zags big man.

I think Rico said it right, there's a median to be found here where we must understand these are very young men and not payed proffesional adults. That being said, there has to be consiquences as these guys made a big mistake.However, innocent until proven guilty, and if they are guilty as we all suspect, then hopefully they can learn from this.

Gonzaga did win that night, it was one ugly game but to win a big confrence game after all that turmoil only hours before is pretty impressive. The Zags will once again be the scrappy underdogs this year, a role they made famous. Few is a great coach too, one of the best in the nation hands down, and with quality people such as Rony Turiaf, and Adam Morrison coming from GU, you can see this is not a usual occurance.

This is not only bad for him sportswise, but also academic wise also. Gonzaga being a Jesuit school will likely dish out more punnishment then simply not being able to play basketball. These school aim to create a well rounded individual
