No excuses. If these core players don't start delivering during 5v5 play, that's it for this core and it's a re-tool in the way that Colorado did it with dealing O'Reilly and then Duchene. Everyone being doom and gloom is because we've seen this play out before. It's on the core of this team to step up and do something new and push back and take control of tonight's game.

I'm hoping we see the team truly show that they've grown.
I agree, if we lose this series then I cannot wait to boot this “core”.

Tonights the night! Johnny's feeling it. An early PP with ample possession time finds PP1 changing on the fly while Johnny dances around the corners. He finds Gio streaking in for the backdoor wrister! Johnny's found his legs and Gio's found his confidence! The next shift with the first line and first pair we see a patented backhand stretch pass from Brodie, the likes unseen since 2015! Johnny streaks in on the breakaway and OMG HE GOES FOREHAND HIGH BLOCKER INSTEAD OF BACKHAND 5 HOLE. Johnny goes on to score another goal and adds an empty netter for the hat trick.

They bury the Stars in 5 from there on out Johnny is known only as "Johnny Symthe'

Dare to dream.

That's unpossible.

Whats the Job of an Elite Centre? To create space for his linemates. Sean never does that. As soon as Sean hits center he starts gliding.I especially love it when he dumps it in Johnnys corner for him to "retrieve" .Very rarely will he make a clean check , most of the time he goes for cross checks from behind on a player that isnt a threat. Do yourself a favor and watch him intently for a game. 6 m player!

Everyone that is ripping on Gaudreau needs to take a look at Sean at the same time.

MarcGio/SeanMon/JohnHockey have been consistantly our worst players so far this playoffs in my opinion

I mean Monahan has put up a PPG through the playoffs up to this point. No player putting up a PPG has been the worst player in the playoffs.

I think the criticism Giordano and Gaudreau are taking is a lot more fair.

True, but his 5v5 play is also unacceptable.

WPG Game 1: 1 assist on the PP
WPG Game 2: nothing
WPG Game 3: 1 assist on the PP, 1 goal on the PP, 1 assist on Johnny's empty net goal
WPG Game 4: 1 secondary assist (which he didn't deserve because Bennett tipped it), 1 empty net goal
DAL Game 1: nothing
DAL Game 2: nothing

So Monahan has 3 points on the PP, 2 points on empty net goals, and 1 point during 5v5 play that he shouldn't have even been credited with (secondary assist that Bennett tipped which should have negated Monahan's apple)

Monahan has been just as trash as Johnny and Gio.

With Tkachuk potentially out, I wouldn’t mind Rinaldo pestering Benn. Benn is a POS.

My lines without Tkachuk:

Gaudreau - Backlund - Lindholm
Mangiapane - Monahan - Ryan
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Rieder - Jankowski - Rinaldo

Ryan has done nothing to deserve a promotion. He's been one of the worst Flames since coming back.

I really, really, really hope Tkachuk is able to play and still be effective but if he can't then I'd like to see the following lines that have both familiarity & grit within each of them

Gaudreau ~ Lindholm ~ Bennett
Lucic ~ Monahan ~ Dube
Rieder ~ Backlund ~ Mangiapane
Jankowski ~ Ryan ~ Rinaldo

Wholeheartedly disagree

He has been buried on the 4th line, with about 10 minutes a game including PK time

The PK has been outstanding, notably when he is on

He is a guy who is capable of playing up and down the lineup, can be counted on in any situation, is a good pro, and accepts his assignment

Damn right he deserves a promotion

That’s why you have guys like him

Looking for Gaudreau to turn the jets on and skate around the Stars instead of panicking when he is about to get hit and passing them the puck to avoid the contact.

Looking for Gio to pass the puck today. Instead of flipping a softie into someone’s shin pads, watching the play die and turn back up the ice to our end.

Looking for Monahan to tighten his helmet up so it don’t get knocked off for the 4th game in a row!

If these 3 things happen it a easy 2 points.

I was listening to Kris Versteeg on the radio today and he was responding to a question regarding the playoffs and how certain players raise their games and others disappear.

Steeger talked glowingly about Toews and Kane in the playoffs and how their raise their games.

For players like Gaudreau and Monahan, they have to find the will to compete and do whatever it takes to win. It’s not about skill... the biggest issue is between their ears.

We need to have the balls to have two guys standing on either side of the crease like Dallas did to us last night.

If we do this we have a better chance of scoring if we continue just tsking perimeter shots.

Games where I see teams doing this are challenging the opponent to actually do something about it . Ward talks about protecting the house ...well last night Dallas broke into the house a assaulted Tkachuk and got him off the ice.

Man our G A F meter needs to be way higher. Drive the net . Crush their D every opportunity.

We back down every time. I'm hoping Robinson and Quine play tonight....size and speed need to be injected I think both these guys understand....take advantage of some adrenaline.

Just play hard FFS . I hate the stars .

Assuming MT can't go, these would be my lines going into this game:

Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Mangiapane - Monahan - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Backlund - Rieder
Jankowski - Ryan - Rinaldo
