Doesn't seem Johnny can do that.
I think the return for him is going to be underwhelming but it still should happen.
 |
He also needs to hit the squat rack like Marty St. Louis lol. That was a small but powerful dude who wasn't scared of any part if the ice.

For once in the playoffs, it would be nice for Gaudreau to be noticeably one of the best players on the ice. If him and Monahan can be in the same conversation as Bennett and Dube as impactful players post game, then Flames chances of victory are extremely high.
Gotta have your best players be your best players. Otherwise they aren't worth the contract, and soaking up too much ice time being ineffective.

I'm sure he will be a game time decision and we won't know until the warmups if he even takes the ice.

			Definitely a big game tonight.
i think its would be dumb to breakup your best line in Dube/Bennett/Lucic. i understand the idea of trying to get other lines going, but give them more ice time, but don't break them up

the dump and chase does not work very with Bishop as he is pretty good at stopping the puck behind the net and allowing the D to peel off...need to somehow figure out a way to mitigate that...

will be interested to see how the top line responds tonight...Calgary needs its highest paid players to play like it...

Game 2 loss? Tkachuk out? That's hockey. Dallas isn't special, still anyone's game yet.
 |
With how badly our top 6 played last night the doom & gloom is warranted from everyone. The issue isn’t so much the loss but how outplayed they got for the first 40, similar to last year.

I never expected Flames to sweep the series. Yesterday was not a great game by the Flames, and they still almost pulled it off. Hoping for a cleaner effort tonight. Gio and the top line definitely need to be better. GFG!

Everyone of us were saying that after the Flames lost Game 2 last year vs Colorado in OT. We will have to see how the Flames respond tonight...

Yeah, the similarities between the two series so far are startling. Pretty convincing win in game 1, followed by a heartbreaking loss in game 2 where we were generally outplayed.

Need to flip the script for game 3 this time. Badly.

But wouldn't that then suggest that Dallas lost the series after game one with their top six performance?

So the Flames have already won the series in that Dallas triggered doom and gloom first!

I get the feeling ... you go from this team is unbeatable to we are doomed as hockey fans. Hopefully the players have an ability to minimize the ditch to ditch mental gymnastics.

I think we've shown we can score against Bishop. Just need more zone time/sustained pressure and clean up the D/assignments (which honestly this is the first time I've seen it so bad since okay resumed).

I don't think Talbot needs redeeming, but I do think playing your other goalie on a back to back is usually a pretty good idea, and it's not like the odds of BSD playing well are that different from Talbot playing well.
We got two goalies, let's use them. (Unless BSD has sucked in practice.)

As much as I hate the Canucks, Johnny can learn a few things from Pettersson and Hughes. They seem to take a lot of punishment, but they work through it with minimal complaints. Johnny just needs to suck it up and play harder. Maybe he doesn't have another gear and can't adapt, I don't know. But if not, he's not going to have much playoff success.

I would just love to be a fly on the wall to hear what if anything is being said to the guy.

Do they just leave him alone and assume he'll work it out?

Or are they saying the obvious things to me ...

1. Stop forcing plays that aren't there
2. Stop with the impossible angle shots - they only go in 0.1% of the time, but generally create a turnover the other 99.9%
3. Change it up. If they have a book on your throw out the book

Yes and everyone was freaking out after game 2 against Winnipeg. In 50 years the Flames will lose a game 2 and people will go see? Just like against Colorado

I'm going to have to disagree. Last year, the Av's owned the Flames in the 2nd game. Flames started to push hard in the third IMO, and had Dallas on their heels a bit. I don't really see very much similarities to be honest. Maybe it's because Dallas doesn't have a game breaker like MacKinnon this time around.

Going to be really interesting to see what the lineup looks like if Chucky is out.
Part of me would like to see Johnny and Monahan split up but can you risk those guys dragging the play down on 2 lines? Seems crazy to think but they have been really ineffective.

I think you need to at least move Lindholm away from them and see what happens. I’d say Lindholm is our most consistent and arguably best player. He deserves a fresh look.

Can’t see how they can go into this game breaking up Lucic - Bennett - Dube. They experimented with it last game but not sure it was effective.

Not to mention the goaltending decision. Going to be very interesting.
