Yeah, no more Monahan and Gaudreau. Just kill it with fire. They're a train wreck during 5v5 play, and it's not a new happening.

There’s no chance that any human with the ability to read/write English and some form of cognitive brain function could read that paragraph and think it translated to “Bennett sucks and it’s his fault we lost”.

And yet you managed to reply, so I know at least one of the two are true.

I'm worried that the only time Monahan does anything is if Gaudreau is in on it. But couldn't hurt to try it I suppose, not like they're lighting it up lately (obviously)

I don’t like breaking up the only good line (BDL) and spreading them out on different lines. I think you leave that line alone and mix up the rest. Also, the first line is always being outmatched with Dallas getting last change, I think you need to cycle Johnny or mony into the other 2 lines once and awhile to catch them off guard. Good news is that the next 2 games are “home” games to get last change.

The top line plays soft and needs some grit. They get pushed around too easily. Plus they need someone who is willing to get to the dirty areas and is willing to take a few hits in the process. Sorry Johnny, that's not you.

Preach.

This is the way I see it too. Just like the last game two, was mostly a case of them beating themselves.

They played maybe 20 good minutes and it was enough to draw even. They can absolutely handle the Stars if they get back to staying on task from start to finish.

Every game is the same. Not sure why anyone is expecting anything different.
Yeah, anyone expecting the Gaudreau-Monahan pairing to transform into something different is going to be disappointed. They are what they are.

I love how everyone is throwing Gaudreau under the bus but are ignoring the 2-3 clean look shots from many feet out Talbot let in.

Right lets blame Johnny.

I know the last play sucked but come on..

The GWG was super scrambly. People were in the wrong positions and Calgary needed a change but didn’t get it in deep. Actually gotta give credit to Puke Perry with the perfect pass and Oleksiak with the finish. It happens.

To say Johnny should be benched and shouldn’t be on the ice... well, enjoy playing Jankowski and Rieder 16 minutes a night then.

Yes because champions break up their top line after a one goal loss

Try this:
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Dube
Gaudreau-Monahan-Mangiapane
Lucic-Backlund-Bennett
Jankowski-Ryan-Reider

Look, I’m not saying the top line has shown up. I’m not singing their praises, but man this thread... it’s embarrassing. Let’s not be so fragile. 1 loss and we’re excommunicating all our players. Let’s at least leave judgement till after the playoffs. These guys got us here. They brought life back into this team when we had nothing. We were collectively circle jerking for the last few games. The Jekyl and Hyde #### is the pot calling the kettle black.

I wonder if putting Monahan with Dube and Bennett would work. Those two are making all the plays right now and Monahan is a good finisher.

If you don't think that is a giant part of the problem I don't know what to tell you.
Tkachuk has done very little to solidify his reputation as a playoff guy and yet the media hype him up like he is some hero in the postseason.

Looks more like Michael nylander than he does his old man

So frustrating.
We saw how they bounced back after a loss to the Jets. There is reason for hope that they will rebound with a much better effort in game 3.

well in 26 career playoff games Johnny has exactly 6 even strength points. He's a straight up liability 5 on 5.

I think if Tkachuk is out I’d think about:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Robinson: it was a small sample sized but worked in the regular season

Mangiapane - Backlund - Lindholm: If Stars load up one line again then hard match this line to them.

Dube - Bennett - Lucic : been the best line for this team all playoff don’t mess it up

Jankowski - Ryan - Reider: Been okay and are mostly there for PK time.

The most energy Gaudreau has all season was for that week when his childhood buddy Robinson was on his line, let’s try that again.
