Better team won.
Top players were garbage and that's that.

I think we're the better team in this series due to better depth, but first line problems are still first line problems.
I hope and still think we win this series but this team is a ways away from being a competitor.

Good news is Bishop looks vulnerable.

Bad game by the Flames for a good portion of it and still put five pucks behind him. (That review was balogna)

When you don’t play for 40 minutes of the game you probably aren’t going to win.

The Stars don’t stand a chance if we play like we did in the 3rd period. Also sucked that we didn’t have elite Talbot tonight either.

You wonder? It's completely evident he has fallen off a cliff. Is slow, makes poor decisions, can't shoot and takes dumb penalties. He's been one of our worst Dmen.

Ward is the guy who called a timeout, rallied his team, and got them to get back in it.

He's not the problem. Personnel is.

It's pretty obvious that something momentous needs to change for the Flames to do anything these playoffs. The best players need to start being the best players. There's no point in expecting a series win unless that changes tomorrow.

I’m not saying they play a similar style. I’m saying they have similar benefits. Phil also usually gets used in a 2nd line role on deep teams.

Gaudreau is just straight up not a winner, i hate having him be the 'star' of the Flames because it's going to be years of 'meh' results as long as he is.

Simply need our top guns to perform a lot better. Complete no shows from them. It's getting old.

I agree. I was wondering what Forbort was doing there. I thought this was his roughest game of the playoff, despite the goal.

Pathetic effort overall from the Flames. Didn’t deserve to win and the score floaters then Dallas owned them all night.

Could be, but he wasn't good vs Colorado last year either

Well we will see if it is the Flames of old tomorrow. If they lose then the series is done.

I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with Johnny, he’s never been great in the playoffs but this is something else. He’s actually the worst player on the ice.

I think Monahan and Lindholm are trying but it’s like playing 5-4. Hrs afraid to hold the puck, just throws it away whenever a dman comes close and is a liability in his own end.

That game winner is 100% on him IMO. He looks directly at Oleksiak when he comes off the bench, is on the right side of him but gets caught puck watching when Oleksiak pinched and was too late to react to his man at the back door.

Honestly the guy is a shell of his former self and has been all season.

I genuinely think the Flames are starting to win (when they do) in spite of Gaudreau and Giordano. They've consistently been the Flames' worst performers in this postseason. Just getting flattened.

Meh.. can't win every game.

Positives:

Flames fought back to tie it.
Less than half the team showed up, but almost managed to take it to OT.
I thought the reffing was atrocious, but they made it close.
Lucic - Bennett - Dube line still looks good, and Bennett improved the top line for a short time, and got a PP goal...

Negatives:

This team has a lot of passengers. It isn't about the top line not scoring tonight - which is finally catching up to this team - but it is how easy they are to play against, and how they just seem to give up momentum every time they go on the ice.

Hopefully they come to play tomorrow. It is hard to win a series if your best players are consistently your worst players. They are so disengaged from the rest of the team right now. How can you go into the locker room after every game and look Bennett, Lucic and Dube in the eyes? It looks like Bennett is playing hurt, but he is competing every shift and getting rewarded while he is doing it.

Johnny can put up first line points yes, but he’s not a 1st line player. If we’re looking to him to take us to the promise land at this point it’s more on us then him.
I really dislike seeing Johnny on PP1 and I especially dislike the setup they have where it is on Johnny to drive the play into the offensive zone (the bounce back pass to him.) He should be out with the PP2 guys with limited time.

If we had won, obviously I would have been happy, but still pretty upset about the effort overall.

It doesn’t take any skill to try.

Johnny is a 3 on 3 OT player, which it seems is irrelevant in the playoffs.

On the bright side, I’d rather they lose like that than keep me up until 1am and lose.
