Crippled isn't strong at all. Flames have a bottom five prospect base and it's a direct result of trades like the Hamonic one.

I really want to move this GDT back to the Stars and the Flames, but I'll say one thing on this.
Brodie is a RD, even if he's a LHS, that's what he had played from 2013 to 2016, his three best seasons to that point, some of which were outstanding.
Hamilton is a RD.
Identifying 2RD as a weak spot was a management issue and never should have happened. The fact that we continued Brodie on the left the next season was a huge mistake, as it was his worst season.

(someone will reply: this is why we shouldn't trade 2nds)

Some people are so trained into being dissatisfied that even when things have finally gone (awesomely) right, they fall back into the habit of seeking out things to scrutinize.
Thats where the cautious optimists have a leg up. They at least have a mentality that allows them to enjoy times like these.

I feel like the Stars are really going to come out tonight and press right out of the gate and keep it up all game. We are going to have to elevate if we want to win this one. No passengers! We can win it, but we'll have to be better.

Yeah I can't say I've thought of Hamonic outside of "wow look how much better we are with more Andersson, thanks Hamonic for sitting out!"
But hey, game 2 of the first round of the playoffs, Flames up 1-0 and playing great, and huge game to prove themselves, and some people wanna whine about something that didn't go right three years ago. To each their own I guess.

Id be much happier having any one of the surrounding 5 players at that pick in the 18 draft. Not to mention the added bonus of having those two 2nd round picks as well. The farm wouldn't be as depleted and Hanifin wouldn't be the scapegoat he had become while suffering being paired with Hammer.
Hated spending the draft capital back then and still do. It wasn't the right time.

I think it was the right time, but it was the wrong coach and wrong player.
Regardless, it’s playoff now and that’s all that needs to be focused on.
At least I get to watch tonight, hopefully the game 2 anti-streak is broken!

Lucic certainly is the Flames MVP of the games thus far IMO. But Talbot deserves his credit for solidifying what many saw as the biggest question mark.

Flames executed for the most part in Game 1, I thought. Just need to do that again tonight and they'll have a good chance. Completely okay with the top line continuing to not allow much against if it means they score less while the other lines fill in.

|
Thanks AC, everyone needs a smack in the face, ala that alarm clock on page 1. Lets get excited for tonight! I think they guys come out flying and just dominate because I think they really learned a lot last year and know they can't sit back. They have to dictate to win and we can beat this team with speed and a relentless forecheck.
Dube with another goal, Lucic keeps his point streak going, Monahan nets a goal and we win by 2. 4-2 for the good guys.
