He's like a bearded Joe Colborne, but better.

Potentially another big game player added to the Flames stable. Digging the cut of his playoff jib early on.

I heard this on Vancouver radio from a media guy who was in Rogers Place.

Apparently, after Dube cross checked Dickinson and got called for a penalty, he complained to the officials and the Stars' bench was giving him a hard time for it and asked if he thought he was a "rock star".

Then Dube got stopped on the breakaway and the Stars' bench was again heckling him and calling him "rock star" again.

Then Dube scored the highlight reel goal and apparently, the Stars bench response was "ok, he is a rock star".

So the answer is "Rock Star".
Hahah, here it is:
https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1...ur-1-1.1508322

Starts at 27:00. Doesn't sound like the Stars bench's response was "ok, he is a rock star". That sounded like Drance's conclusion after the back and forth and Dube's goal.

Too lazy to find the article, but pretty sure it was on The Athletic...

Someone did an article about Dube's closest comparables from his dominant AHL seasons and the findings showed that, on average, players who dominated as much as Dube did in the AHL tended to be around the 60-point range in the NHL.

Not to mention Dube's beastly two-way ability and the fact he gives it his all every shift. He wants to be the best player he can possibly be.

Quite simply, the Flames have a gem in him.

You misspelled indispensable.

1. Win the Cup.
2. New top line of Tkachuk-Bennett-Dube
3. Sell Johnny and Monny for a king's ransom.

Nope, not when Dube's long term upside is as a centerman.

Meanings:

Dillon - a lion

Dubé - a zebra

Maybe his parents conceived while on a safari

Based on what we saw from him in the preseason prospect games, I think Dube has a chance to be a real impact player. That speed down the right wing, that shot on his off wing. I could see 20 in the near future and possibly even 30 goals down the road.

Near future, like by September?

This is a neat time for the team, with some really genuinely talented (and hard working) new blood being injected at just the right time.

I said in another thread I think the team is a step shy of being a cup contender, but it's starting to look like a very good team here, very deep.

What's Dube? A really decent winger with some speed.
What about Hanifin? It's really easy to forget he is even younger than Ras

These 2 have chemistry and it shows.

They should continue to play these guys together as the confidence they have right now playing with Lucic is exciting.

I don’t know why you come in here and make comments like this when that line has been on fire?

It isn’t only because if Dube and Lucic. Bennett has been the a big part of that line and has elevated it from being a good line, with Ryan at C, to a potential elite 3rd line. Ryan is great but Bennett has that speed and tenacity that compliments the other twos games more so than Ryan.

Why would we be in a rush to move on from Bennett?

In the interests of long term success wouldn’t it be more wise to say Dube and Bennett could potentially make Backlund, a player who is on the other side of 30, expendable?

I’m loving our top 9 forwards right now and hope we can keep them all (I get Lucic might be a guy you would want to offload, at some point if you could, due to his cap hit).

Doubtful. Hard to hit 20 without powerplay time while also playing on the 3rd line. I think he has the talent to be a perennial 20 goal scorer. His speed, shot and willingness to drive the net are way too good to keep him off the score sheet.

Can only protect 7 forwards in the expansion draft

No. Even if the Flames win the Cup, you don't trade Gaudreau AND Monahan, expect a king's ransom (which would be difficult to get with a flat cap and their relatively inexpensive contracts), and still roll into 2020/21 with Bennett and Dubé on your top line. If you can't get first line players back for Gaudreau and Monahan, there's no reason at all to trade them.

Your proposed first line won't get the Flames anywhere.

He seems much stronger since he has grown the beard and shaggy hair. Maybe we should call him Samson. Is he the new Brayden Point?

Dube is faster than I thought he was. Watching him skate around the defender for that 2nd goal was a real eye opener for me. Plus, I think Bennett plays well with a guy that gets up the ice quickly. That's a fun line to watch right now.
