I am really curious to see the effect of one team coming off a heated play in series versus a team coasting through an exhibition round robin. That should be a massive advantage for the flames. They should be able to take game one on that alone and build from there. Flames in 5.

This is definitely a good match-up for the Flames, at least on paper. Benn and Seguin still scare the hell out of me though. Those guys always seem to have our number.

It's 2017 Flames vs Ducks Game 3 and Corey Perry skates by the Flames' bench trying to get his stick. He starts punching 2 Flames players on the bench. Penalty right? Right in front of the ref?

Hell no. Ducks go the other way and score seconds later.

No penalty, no whistle. Game over. Flames get swept the next game.

Yeah, #### Corey Perry.

Dallas seems like a team of older forwards and younger defensemen, you probably want it the other way around. They are well rested though.

The good news is that the Flames have two guys in Tkachuk and Bennett who can easily match Perry in the annoying d-bag department. Also, Perry is currently on a downward trajectory and is a shell of his former self. I don't think he'll be much of a problem for Calgary.

Yep, was just about to quote you as you responded. Can't believe that goal counted. One of the most shameful displays of incompetent reffing I've ever seen. Can't believe there wasn't more of an uproar over that, especially during the playoffs.

I haven't followed the Stars too much but by all accounts Perry is a former shell of himself. However, he's likely to be woken up knowing he's gotten in the Flames' heads before. Hopefully Bennett nails him (cleanly) every chance he gets.

I'm glad the Flames aren't playing St. Louis if only for the fact that we would get worked in face offs. Dallas we have a much better shot at gaining possession off the draw.

No, that's just a buzz-word the NHL is using to get people to fill in their playoff predictions, NCAA March Madness style. Was having this convo with a couple buddies during the qualifiers whenever that ad would come on about how this isn't even a real bracket, but its hard to explain what a bracket is actually supposed to look like to people who only watch hockey/NHL. They clearly weren't getting it, it was frustrating lol.

EDIT: As for the series, this is exactly the matchup I wanted.. there's a "Big 3" in the West, and then there's Dallas. I felt our new "jam" we showed against Winnipeg would be much more effective against the Stars than a bruising club like St. Louis, who would just beat us at our own game in that regard. But Dallas is still the favourites for a reason, Flames better be ready. Possibly just wishful thinking, but I'll go Flames in 6

It's going to be fascinating watching fans and pundits twist and turn themselves into explaining how Tkachuk is way worse than Perry.

It will be interesting to see if the Flames can keep rolling physically over the Stars.

They have 3 normal (Flame size) defensemen, and 3 that are super sized.

It takes more energy and risk banging on big guys. Harder to crash the net.

Perry would not think twice to injure an important Flame.

Not even close. Perry is what Tkachuk might grow up to be. Perry would have been running around warning the Jets that he might put them down Schiefele-style

That is why Talbot was the MVP against the Jets. So used to the Flames goalie letting in a momentum changing goal.

Corey Perry was a dick and maybe should've been called for those punches, but that goal was 100% on Elliott.

Never hated a Flames goaltender as much as him.

YEs, have to wonder if Rinaldo will make his way back into the lineup at some point.

If Jankowski wants to stay in, he needs to start throwing his weight around.
