7 of the 8 play-in series were won by the winners of game 1.

These play-in series went almost perfectly LOL

Next Up: Minnesota or Nashville to win the draft lottery

So, I’ve been fishing in Sooke BC for the last 3 days and went to a pub called “17 Mile”

I laughed out loud when I looked at their menu...so appropriate tonight!

They got out-coached, so much for the softees like ‘O’Keefe. He was outclassed by the motivational skills of Tortarella.

I'm laughing at this Leafs loss almost as much as the Oilers loss. That 2nd goal was the turning point. Wow, just wow. Someone tell them you go for a line change when you dump it in, not when the other team dumps it in.

The Tavares signing reminds me of the Flames signing Bouwmeester. They were both top free agents who looked like great contracts taking home town discounts but ended up messing with team balance. Just like the Flames already had a top defence and needed scoring, the Leafs already had enough scorers and needed defence.

Leafs went the early oilers rebuild route, with a heavy bias to skilled, soft forwards. No focus on size, grit, or any semblance of defence.

Once they moved to a point where ELCs were done and they are stuck paying full value to the forwards, drafting guys like sandin, liljegren, is of no use. Given that d prospects take longer to reach their potential, heck, becoming full-time nhlers, these teams need to be more strategic in bringing in strong, nhl ready dmen. Muzzin, Barrie, hainsey are not good enough....

I predict the leafs will look to move nylander to bring in an actual top 4 d.
