I don't usually listen to CHED after a game, but I think it is the same caller calling in every time, just using a different name.

And he seems to think the solution is changing up the lines.

Covid McCovid Must have forgotten to say “Let’s go” before the game. That explains everything.

I wonder if the Cup winning team gets a banner. I mean, if Garth Brooks gets one...

I wouldn't doubt it.

My first thought when I saw the clip of him burying his head on the bench was that he couldn't contain his smiling knowing that he was getting out for a while.

Meanwhile, in Edmonton, their playoff hopes may be over, but, the fire rages on!

CorsiHockeyLeague had the idea/request earlier.

I spent a stupid amount of time doing it, but it turned out pretty great I think.

I've read several articles stating that this is an upset and that the Oilers were supposed to have beaten the Hawks handily and advance without breaking a sweat. So even after getting their asses handed to them, people around the oilers STILL think that they are actually entitled to and destined for success. Has every single ounce of humility left the Edmonton area? It's incredible, it truly is, and next year it will of course repeat itself, as it always does.

I wonder how McDavid processes this internally over the off season. I would think for actual leaders in his position, they would look at their counterpart on the other team, see how Toews played the game for his team in the playoffs and focus on becoming a more complete player for next season. In Edmonton's organizational culture though, I would think it's pretty likely that he sees his 9 points and feels sorry for himself as he believes he did all that could be expected of him this year. Maybe he'll set his target on getting 3ppg next year.

If McDavid ever does learn to become a complete playoff performer, like Toews, Crosby or Yzerman, he'll likely spend less time crying and more time celebrating, but in that team's culture I doubt he ever learns to make that change. In Oilers culture, chasing scoring titles will still be the number one goal.

I imagine a lot of this comes from the coaching as well. Success comes from buying into a system, structure, and a complete team game.
Edmonton’s system is the first half of every youth sports family movie ever made: give it to the new guy every time who will win the games all on his own. But eventually other teams figure it out and solve the one dimensional attack forcing the group of misfits to band together and win as a group without leaning on one player.
And this is the part the Oilers can’t figure out.

13/14 playoff misses. When you have better than a 50% chance every year, you'd expect to be batting higher than 7%.
