Rest of league combined with 5 or more: 12 players total.
For reference, no Flame was in the ice for more than 2. 2 of the Flames who were on the ice for 2 against, were on the ice for 6 FOR (Andersson and Hanafin).
I was going to say I bet we never see it again...but once the league is up to 32 teams, I would not be shocked to see them move to this playoff structure as the new norm.
More games, more teams involved, more revenue as they try to recover from the damage done.
Agree with you but curious to know if you think the league views or will view this as a success by any other metrics or does it simply come down to cold hard cash?
Speaking of 50/50 I just got charged twice now for 2 different times i tried hopefully I don't get charged for all the tried I made
The first 50/50 for game one, I was charged twice (refreshed my purchase once on a time out), and two days later the charges on my card were reversed, or more like never had them finalized as the Oil worked through their mess. I never received a confirmation email/ticket so thankfully it was sorted out on their end.

Yeah mine just said I bought 2 X 10$ tickets instead of just 1X10 dollars maybe it's fate I'm gonna win it all!!!

It would certainly would increase the chance of “upsets”. As we’ve seen, a 12 beating a 5 isn’t all that far-fetched. Especially this year when the 12 had nothing to lose and was basically playing with house money. Meanwhile, the 5 just missed a bye and all the pressure is on them not to blow it. And in a league fuelled by parity, making it a best-of-five means you only need three wins to pull the “upset”.
I don't think the upsets are because of the 3 out of 5 format, I think the primary reason is that everybody just spent the last 4 months in their basements.
Oh, and just about the only thing better than Edmonton losing is Edmonton losing and Mike Smith getting to watch 3.5 games on the bench while sporting a nice double-digit GAA:
Even if the Oilers try to re-sign him, will Smitty and his 6’5 ego even want to go back?

Just awesome, absolutely awesome. What a great couple days and offseason ahead as the Oilers media and fans play the blame game...and become even more dysfunctional as a team on the ice and off.
Who cares if they get the pick, they have a guy who is the most dynmaic offensive forward in a while and a potential, however questionable Hart Trophy nominee, in their prime or close to it, and can't do F all and beat Chicago to get in.
Hope the Flames 5050 catches some residuals in the short term.

So Flames fans picked up in the Schmitty ego too eh?

Fighting words for Calgary from a loser:
The Oilers admitted the team didn't match Chicago's intensity, and actually had more fight in them in their lone exhibition game last week against their hated rival the Calgary Flames.
''I thought we had our moments in this series ... but you can't play Calgary every night to bring it, so we've got to figure it out,'' McDavid said.
''They (Chicago) were really good. Give them credit.''
