I'm so sorry. So sorry, but I want Edmonton to get Lafreniere. Hear me out - indulge my fantasy. They get him, and this time, THIS TIME, he's the one. The fans are so excited. Ron Maclean ruins his pants, and the pants of whomever is sitting across from him. Only they Oiler him up, and they still can't make the playoffs. (I remember being terrified at the thought of them landing Taylor freaking Hall. And now the Now Now me looks at the Before Time me, and wonders, why were you worried?)
I want them to land this cat, this Lafreniere guy, and I want them all excited and full cocky about it, and I want them to mess it up. Shouldn't be hard, they've got enough experience.
Now, nothing against the player - just fate. Cruel circumstance, but I want the league to make a rule, wherin a team can only ruin x number of 1st overalls in x number of years. But this rule, it's not some subtle rule the league slides in. It's not 'Paragraph 24.1.a.' This rule comes to be known as the Edmonton Rule. I want that name associated with incompetence with extreme prejudice. It's not enough that the league knows about 'the Edmonton Rule.' I want it known outside of hockey, outside of North America that the word 'Edmonton' translates to 'utter incompetence.' In 2022, I want some company to open a diamond mine in South Africa or Mozambique or Azerbaijan somewhere, and I want that mine to fail, and miserably so. And when it fails I want the person in charge to explain to his investors, 'we had bad information, incompetence from above - the mine Edmontoned on us.'
I want Edmonton to do nothing other than Be Edmonton. Get Lafreniere, Edmonton. Show us how spectacularly ****ty you can be.

Wow, first time I've listened to the CHED and this is hilarious!
Only reason the Oilers lost is experience
Next year they'll be more seasoned
Move money out, D will be much better at transition
Lots of help coming up
Drai a hart winner, Mcdavid the best, RNH is elite and should get an extension
Man if the oilers need deflections, Bob Stauffer should be out there. Talk about avoiding talking about the oilers losing to a team that just sold off.

I also don't mind a bit if the Oilers win the lottery again, because a) it won't help and b) even if they won the cup 5 years running, there would be this weird asterisk hanging over all of it: *these guys got eleventeen lottery picks So it's win/win here, the Oil out, having lost to... a bad team, is delicious, and nothing else that happens matters.
