Echoing the sentiments of people who really want Brodie and Gustafsson back. Forbort... meh. I like him more than I like Hamonic, but that's probably because he costs less and tries to do less. He focuses on his game and is pretty steady.
I will say that I don't think Brodie has been the Flames' best D in the series. He's been #2, because I think this series has been a coming-out party for #55, Noah Hanifin. He's been terrific.

Hanifin has been really good and gets no credit from Flame fans

I haven't noticed Hanifin, which at least means he's doing a good job in his own zone. Maybe his fancy stats say he's been great offensively, but my eye test says I'd like to see more offense.
I suppose that could easily be circumstance though, as he doesn't get a lot of pp time, and the entire team hasn't generated a lot 5v5.

Hanifin by far and away leads Flames D-men in expected goals against at 5v5 through three games
Offensively he's been pretty ok too but I agree that I'd like to see a bit more there. But I think that a lot of that comes with confidence.

It should be no surprise Hanifin has benefitted playing with one of the best puck moving defensemen in the league in Andersson.
I wouldn't mind re-signing Brodie and bringing back Forbort if it can be down cheap as a Hamonic replacement.

IMO Brodie, Forbort and Gus are all guys you bring back if the price is right, which puts them in the same class as any other available defensemen out there. Unless we see some breakout performance and a deep playoff run, there is no reason to pay a premium for continuity.
I’m ok if the Flames look to do some dumpster diving to fill out the back end and spend money in the crease and up front.

It's a game of mistakes and capitalizing on mistakes. Will a "desperate" Jets team make more mistakes?
The number of goals Calgary's scored from in the low slot or right in front of the net tells me the patches on the Jets defense are over rated. Hard for Hellebucyk no matter how well he plays.

Speaking of defense men to re-sign for next year. No one has mentioned Valimaki. He makes Forbort redundant as i think he's better than Forbort in every aspect of the game. Re-sign Brodie and maybe Gus.

Someone will pay Forbort more and he will go. No way flames can even give him 2 million

After a 20-game regular season in which he battled a huge injury? I'm not sure he gets $2 million in this NHL economy at all

Would love to see that, but I doubt we'll be able to sign all 3

This is exactly what I meant - fans won't credit Hanifin at all.
So why are Hanifin's numbers better than Andersson's if Andersson is carrying him?

I should clarify that I believe it's no surprise Hanifin has seen a huge improvement in his play when not tethered to Travis Hamonic.
