Something occured to me during the game that I just remembered, and maybe some of the folks here can help.
When I last played hockey, it was 30 years ago, and I played goalie, so it never came up.
But after seeing 2 guys get pasted in the face with the puck, why don't folks use the full clear face masks, like the Jets player came back the second time with. I can recall some folks arguing (way, way back when) that the full metal cage cuts down on vision, but the full clear visor seems like it'd fix that problem.
What am I missing?

Jets weren’t quite as dialled in today, Flames were much better in executing in all zones. More importantly, our skill guys showed their skill. Johnny to keep the puck in on the first goal, Gustaffson with the perfect pass, Lindholm with the conversion. Monahan converting in tight. Chucky with the finish upstairs.
More quality chances overall — midway through the second I think the shots were something like 24 to 15 and we carried the play until we finally got the two goal lead. Third period was a little sloppy but back-to-back games will sometimes do that. Talbot was solid.
Tucker “Pool-of-blood-man”. Yuck. Glad he’s okay, hope Forbert is as well.

I’ve been very impressed with Lucic so far. I’ve pretty much liked him all season, but in the playoffs, the little things he does have been even more magnified.
Solid along the boards, can absorb a hit to make a play. His forecheck causes opposition defensemen to rush plays or cough up pucks. He’s even made some nifty passes for a couple goals. Keep it up Looch, his elevated play in playoffs could be key moving forward.

Something I wouldn't have guessed: Sean Monahan is leading the Flames with four points through three games.
He's tied with Andrew Mangiapane in that department.

Tried it once years ago. Terrible to breath with and fogs up badly. If you have to wear a mask the cage is far better.

I caught a glimpse of a Bennett wrap around goal and had to step out, but noticed it's not on the score sheet. Can anyone explain why it was called back?

i like Lucic and I have to give a hard no to the bolded. His board work is the d-zone is so so bad, though he did start a couple nice breakouts tonight.
I don’t really understand it since it should be a strength, but it’s noticeable to me.
He had a real solid gme tonight though.
Flames got some pop from the top 6 and kept out of the box, and that should be good to win against a lot of teams.

Because it happened in Game #2. The officials conferred about it, but ultimately decided that allowing goals from previously played games would set a bad precedent. I think it's a good call.

I wore the clear facemask in midget, tier II and first year of college. While it was definitely better than the cage it was terrible for fogging up. The half shield doesn't fog up much because there is nothing in the mouth and nose area to send your breath upwards. Even if it didn't cause fogging it was annoying to have your breath come back at you when you were exerting yourself. Those breathing holes in the mask are far from perfect.
Anti-fogging technology is probably better these days but I am sure it is also far from perfect.
The day I was eligible (there were age rules) to change to the half-shield I did.

I will be impressed if it goes to 4 games.
This series will tell you why advanced stays are useless. No advanced stars measure balls. Flames have none unfortunately.

I’ll be honest, aside from good hustle and physicality in game 1, I hadn’t been impressed by Lucic. He has no hands, can barely get his shot off, and has had multiple turnovers in the D zone. And his penalty today was inexcusable — was that even a hockey play?
That said, he has good positioning, can make good passes, and likely gives Bennett and Dube a bit of extra space out there, which they need. He’s likely a guy that will have a bigger impact as a series wears on — and I’ll give him the benefit of being a vocal leader and veteran presence in the room.
Bonus points for the fact that when he scores, I think that’s as demoralizing as it gets for the other team
