My only problem with this is I don't think anyone would consider any of these coaches to be of a high quality.

What happens to this team with somebody like Laviolette? Unfortunately I'd guess we'll never know.

Probably move Ryan back up to the third line and reunite Jankowski and Bennett.

I don't think the flames played that poorly. This is a wildly entertaining series.

Quine.

If you are going to bury Ryan on that line (terrible idea IMO), at least give him someone that can play close to his skill level.

If they don’t get past the next round the writing is on the wall for a rebuild, I’d rather them go that route than maxing out the cap on free agents. We need a line driver in the center of the ice

Time to take off your homer glasses and realize Gio isn't a top 4 dman anymore. His performance as the captain of the Flames has been pretty lackluster in the off season. The only series we won and he didn't even play.

Which makes me pretty sad. Gio was a warrior but he is just too damn old now. He is also the best player out of KHL ever!

And holy eff! fix that powerplay. Put Lucic on the first unit and have him sit on Hellebuck's face.

No way can we blame the refs for that one. The Flames' top players weren't just invisible, they were noticeably bad. Really bad. Brutal, listless effort in a game that could easily have been won with even an average to below average effort.

Talbot was fantastic. Bennett and Mangiapane were our best forwards. And with all due respect to them, if that continues to be the case, the Flames are going nowhere.

I can forgive one bad game, as long as they come out flying tomorrow. But if they play like this again, I am ready to join the blow-it-up bandwagon.

Here's a thought... MOVE YOUR ####ING FEET!!!

That's letting them off the hook.
This group has shown, time and time again, to be mentally weak.
I don't think it's smart to give them a chance with coach #5.

And I don't think top tier coaches, who can pick their situation, would be highly interested in coming here, and coaching a group that rightly is earning a reputation for being coach killers.

Yup that's my vote too. Rinaldo is a terrible hockey player.

Hideous effort from the Flames. No puck support in their own end or through the neutral zone resulting in punts, passing through skates and sticks, or cross-ice attempts. Puck support requires the effort to skate to the areas of support instead of cheating up ice for offence.

Disappointing that work ethic in all three zones - not just the offensive zone - continues to be an issue with the team’s highest-paid players.

If I had to pick three keys going forward:

-Taking less penalties than the last two
-Getting out of first periods not behind on the board /surrendering first goal
-Tkachuk making an impact on the stats sheet

Btw, Flames haven't scored the first goal of the game in six consecutive games. Yes, that obviously goes beyond the COVID break. But it's a puzzling and frustrating trend with this team.

You realize it's probably not the same people saying both of those things right?

Symptom of just not being mentally ready.

You guys are fun. Holy hell, I used to come to the PGT to get people's thoughts on the game. I didn't realize that every ####ing game is a way to sum up the season and career of each player involved.

I know that this is how the internet works, but I thought this place was better in the past. I might be misremembering. If Lucic is able to calm that puck down and get it in when it's 2-2, it's highly likely this place looks like it did after Game 1. Like we are the greatest thing that ever happened. But apparently that play also made Tkachuk a fourth liner, Monahan a waste of space, and made evident a clear need to blow up the core of the team. Clearly I don't understand hockey like the majority of you must.

No more PGTs for me for a while - I'm just going to watch the games.

Ya he’s regressed and given his age it should be expected. Last year was the flames time to make a push given where Gio was at offensively but the same story happened. Sucks to see, he was so damn good last season but father time is undefeated.

I am disappointed about the 2:3 loss, but I didn't think that Flames played terribly or without passion. If anything, there was a little too much passion, perhaps, and too little discipline with too many stupid irresponsible penalties. But otherwise, it was a close one-goal game, which was very entertaining to watch.

Agreed 100%. Quine can actually play and possesses skill. Ryan needs guys that can support him, not that he has to drag around.

Lord knows what a goal from that line might do for us. We have to set ourselves up to have the best chance at that. Rinaldo doesn't do that.
