I really like Ferland but it was pretty lame that none of the broadcasters called that a spear.
Yeah. It was objectively a dirty move, not smart by him.
The network guys have loved Ferland ever since 2015 and "Ferklund", but no excuse not to call a spade a spade there. Don't be wading into delusional territory now by brushing that one under the rug.
Leafs and Canucks shut out and the Oil give up 6 in a loss. All this while the Flames win 4-1. Great first couple nights of playoffs.
And I have to admit, I kind of took some enjoyment out of seeing Montreal upset the Pens as well.
Would be pretty entertaining if the Flames and Habs were the Canadian clubs to qualify. The media guys having to sit and discuss their two least favoured clubs of the qualifiers would be uncomfortable for them, particularly without being able to insert "McDavid" and "Leafs" into every second sentence on the teleprompter.

Don't forget "budding superstar" Ethan Bear. One of the panelists actually called him that yesterday before the Hawks/Oilers game.

I’m not sure they will, those guys were holding his stick and they obviously wanted a response. I’d be surprised if he gets one.

Doesn't seem flashy. Maybe overlooked being in Minn. His name never is really top tier. For example, we hear a lot about Burns, Doughty, and now Josi. What is Ryan Suter?
Perennial ice time leader, by a pretty fair margin in aggregate.
Whatever you set the starting year to, he's pretty well always at the top around 27mins with only 2-3 other guys over 25mins.
Obviously there is a lot more to live than TOI, but MIN has had lots of other good D-men, so it isn't purely out of necessity. 8 straight years over 26 mins is a pretty impressive feat that I bet few others have achieved.

I watched the replay today and actually can not believe the call.
They mention a hold of the stick, and jab, by Wild players prior to mentioning Ferland at all. Then they call it a “poke back”.
I don't really care where the punishment lands, but I think it should be equal for Ferland and the Wild player. There should be zero tolerance for interfering with play from the bench.

Which is why it wasn't called, that's the ref's way of telling the bench not to do that stuff - "we'll let him spear you".
