The CP posters that said Edmonton sweep or in 4 should have to identify themselves via avatar or custom title for the clear traitors they are.

Found this on reddit, it’s amazing how deluded this fan base is. Koskinen almost never has a bad game? Hahah

“How many games do we have to lose before we use koskinen, the guy who almost never has an off night, as our starter? I've really liked tippets coaching in almost every regard but his blatant favouritism of smith blows my mind. I can only assume he knows something I don't (which is very likely).

Also, Kris Russell looked like a different player out there tonight, in a good way. Jumping up multiple times and skating hard. He deserves some love.”

Oilers fans just always prove themselves to be the most deluded fanbase on the internet

Also it’s been way too long since I’ve listened to CHED it’s a gold mine right now

Let's hope the NHL bubble is also protecting teams from catching the continuing dumpster fire that is Oilers hockey.

There sure are a lot of posts about wanting the Oilers to win this, for some reason. Get a grip, you guys. Any kind of success or joy for the Oilers or their fans is unacceptable. Even if they somehow win game 2 (they won’t), that will disgust me. I think they go with Koskinen in game 2 and the Blackhawks chase him even faster than they chased Smith today. 5-0 Hawks in game 2.

I don't know what game DeBrusk was writing, they were hardly better in the 2nd half until Chicago went to the garbage time prevent defense. When the Hawks were going the Oilers had no answer, they were badly outskated, couldn't execute a break out and their whole team was give away after give away.

Yeah, they got their power play goals McDavid got his mandatory 3 points on the PP but looked like complete garbage 5v5 and had a awesome give away on one of the hawks goals. Koskinen looked better then Smith, but who knows what you're going to get out of him on a game to game basis.

This is the second game in a row where the Oilers looked rather not so good 5v5, the Hawks were a faster and more determined team.

He does know that both teams have to play on it, and the Hawks which are a faster team had no problems.

My golf pro went to great lengths to get the patio setup to show hockey, big screen and all. He also happens to be a huge Oilers fan.

Anyhow I finish my round just as the Hawks and Oiler begin play. Near the end of the first period, my pro walks up to get a cold drink and all the golfers quickly remined him of the score. As he's heading back to the pro shop, everyone yells out: "Don't go away mad, Dave!"

He wasn't happy!

Chicago deployed their secret weapon in game one: Mike Smith.

Do people really think the Oilers lost because of Mike Smith? Really?

They were bad in front of him. Really bad. The Hawks ran them out of the rink. Yeah, he messed up on the Strome goal, but attributing the loss to Edmonton goaltending is just a bad take.

If the Oilers lose this series and win the draft lottery, the NHL had better step in and make changes. I will be absolutely livid if that happens, whether or not they destroy the pick down the road.

I want the oilers to win because I don’t want them anywhere near that draft lottery. They can get swept in the first round

I know when and why they brought it in. I happened to be doing something else and only heard the commentary talking about making sure the refs get lots of practice making these decisions. I didn't even see if Tippett challenged it. Was it called off by the refs?

Whatever. The Oilers lost. All is good. ☺

That's just silly, far better to have the oilers faithful to watch every single playoff round in their barn while their team is golfing.

What a start!

Chicago completely outclassed the Oilers, who look like they don't want to miss much of their regular August vacation.

Expected goals 4.04 - 2.63 (60.5%) Chicago
Adjusted Corsi 51.8 - 29.7 (63.5%) Chicago

McDavid with the most McDavid game ever, finishing with four points and leaving the puck-watching media fawning but showing no interest in anything aside from personal offensive accolades. His line getting pumped 0-3 at 5v5 with 23.6% expected goals and 22.4% corsi is diabolical.
