Turnovers.....we ran a bakery last night. Oh oh oh and its all Bennetts fault.
Our goal had it been a meaningful game would have not been allowed ...even thr ref gave tippet extra time FFS and Tippet Dgaf.
Ward said he believes his players want better and sees the sincerity.
Wow Geoff. Really. The players talk talk talk....
We need a coach that's cuts right through the BS . Makes them accountable. At least they played hard for Hartley and the games were entertaining.
Maurice slept well last night . Jets in 3.
Well....glad I got that off my chest....now I can go back to being an ass

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I was encouraged by the Flames taking over the second half of the game. I am definitely nervous about our goaltending.

It was a fun game!
I thought both teams played well, the usual suspects were good. The usual suspects were suspect.

I doubt it. The Edmonton player clearly knocked the Calgary player into their goalie.

No matter what the stats say and regardless of the fact that the team visibly improved during the game it looked like a loss after 5 minutes of play.
That's a thing with this team.
You can see early in many games that there is very little chance they will win. I felt it last night and I have felt it many times this season. It wasn't bad bounces or anything like that.
It was mediocracy.
There is a big part of me that wants a mediocre loss to the Jets and a core rebuild on the fly with only Tkachuk, Lindholm, Backlund, Dubé, Giordano and Andersson truly safe from being moved.

You could see Tkachuk gave the goaltender an additional push after he was contacted. Little doubt in my mind that goal gets reversed in a playoff game.

I imagine this was discussed in the game thread but what's up with RSN going almost half a period with no time clock or scorebox? It's 2020 for crying out loud!

Yep, there's a chance it could have been called back but only because the NHL review room changes rules on the fly.

Very predictable result. Flames looked like garbage. Lots of perimeter play and no intensity. Still waiting for one of our top players to give a #### and be a difference maker by trying to be the best player on the ice. They didn't show up prepared, fell behind, then the Oilers had a pleasure skate for the most part. Edmonton got the lead and shut it down. Nothing from last night's game leads me to believe this team has an answer to any hockey related question. The Flames play like this going forward it will be quick and painless against Winnipeg.

At the end of the day it was still fun to watch a hockey game, regardless of the end result. It was a meaningless game that was a lot better than I thought it would be after a 4 month hiatus.

The complete lack of atmosphere was really noticeable in that game. If the Flames bow out early, my interest level in this tournament will likely drop to zero.

Yeah the overall hockey wasn’t bad and the empty building didn’t really bother me as much as I thought it may. It was really, really nice to be able to relax and enjoy some hockey.

Echoing the 'knew we were going to lose 5 minutes in feel'. Agree it's been the case the entire season.
I was also so disinterested in watching this team in the heat of summer that I spent the entire game on my phone or tinkering around the house. I'm really struggling with the hockey in August thing. Gonna be hard to get interested this weekend.

I agree but I don't get the reason for keeping Backlund. I think if he would agree to waive his NTC and a team gave up anything of any value, he should be traded. This team needs a rebuild and another good young C which would push Backlund to a bottom 6 spot and he makes too much to be a bottom 6 player. I get that people love him but unless he really catches fire, the team should look at moving him if possible. I don't see him as part of the problem, I just don't see him as part of the solution.

If Talbot or Rittich even put up a .915% and we play the way we did last night I think we beat Winnipeg in this series.
Not sure why some posters are making Winnipeg out to be some power house. They really aren't.

Ryan / Czarnik is such an undersized combo between winger / center.
It'd like to see an all-speed line of Dube - Bennett - Czarnik. On a line like that, Bennett will always be the trailer, and we've seen throughout the years, whether it was playing with Raymond, Gaudreau, Frolik, or Dube, that he plays his best hockey when he doesn't have to wait for big slow lugs to catch up to the play, as some coach must have convinced him at some point that drop passes are a bad play. Lucic and Ryan have also build chemistry so it makes sense, though that final winger spot should be up for grabs based on whoever actually fits there.
Gaudreau/Monahan/Lindholm
Tkachuk/Backlund/Mangiapane
Dube/Bennett/Czarnik
Lucic/Ryan/[Quine/Reider/Rinaldo/Robinson/Jankowski/etc]
