Trump says Biden can't speak? His speech today was far more coherent than anything Trump has said.

I thought Biden had faded mentally months ago, but lately he seems pretty sharp. I wonder if it was rustiness from being out of the spotlight vs a cognitive decline.

Part of me thinks it's a rope-a-dope strategy. Let Trump and Co. set the floor remarkably low, then when Biden clears it with ease it's a non-issue. And they are pinning a lot of hopes now on "Biden is in decline" as their winning strategy (outside cheating, of course).

Trump is really setting himself up if his whole campaign is based on Biden not being able to identify farm animals. Biden sounded like an actual leader in his speech today...imagine that.

That requires the Democrats to have some sort of underlying strategy. The cynic in me still expects a fumble into the endzone after watching 3.5 years of Dems being outmaneuvered.

Luckily, they have Republican strategists (e.g. Lincoln Project) showing them how to bring a gun to a gun fight.

After this election, the Dems will likely relapse into bringing plastic sporks to gunfights...

While I can’t argue against the Democratic Party lacking a cohesive strategy, how is picking up 41 seats in the 2018 mid terms considered being outmanoeuvred?

This time they don't need a strategy. COVID is doing all the work. All they have to do is not do anything, at least as long as the pandemic is continuing this way.

I think the the meaning is clear. Peaceful protesters shouldn’t have shotguns pointed at there faces or be facing arrests by unknown police/security while those breaking the law should face the consequences of those actions. Biden is in no way trying to say you arrest them for simply having beliefs. That’s a pretty bad spin to suggest otherwise given the entire context of the speech. IMO.

What exactly is outrageous in Biden's statement?

Peaceful protesters should be protected. Arsonists and anarchists - the ones doing property damage - should be prosecuted, under the same laws that were in effect when he and Obama were in the White House. Oh, the outrage!!!

You know, if the police were not being paramilitary ######bags and instead focused in one allowing protesters to have their march and catch the little ####s that were actually breaking the law, we wouldn't have any problem. Just a thought.

You're arresting arsonists and not anarchists? Anarchists are only wrong if they're being arsonists, like anyone else who is an arsonist.

Apparently that was entirely done by the NYPD - no other agencies or orders of government involved.
I'm curious to know what the policy is there. Why plainclothes cops and why an unmarked van? Strange.

You'd have to ask the mayor.
