Flames July 24 4:30pm MT Scrimmage notes

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Appears that #Flames RW Elias Lindholm will not participate in intrasquad scrimmage today. Sam Bennett taking line rushes with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, although Team White will mix and match with just eight forwards.

Scott Cruickshank @ByCruickshank
#Flames scrimmage — no Lindholm, Gawdin, Phillips

He likely tweaked something. Why make it worse. I'm sure he will probably be just fine by Tuesday, or next Saturday at the latest.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
now
#Flames Team Red on the other side, with Rittich starting:

Ruzicka-Froese-Robinson

Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington-Stone

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
For first shift of #Flames scrimmage, RW Austin Czarnik skating in Elias Lindholm's usual spot with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau.

Monahan scores from Gaudreau.

The puck somehow goes through Rittich again.

Johnny beats Rittich five hole on a breakaway after a bad Stone turnover. 2-0 White.

Maybe that was a sneaky shot, but almost every highlight goal I've seen in these scrimmages looks bad.
I'm pretty worried about our goaltending.

I know Rittich has had poor pre-seasons only to turn it on when the season begins but man. Rough go of it lately. Still expect him to start.

I imagine Talbs and Ritter will split the game on Tuesday - but for whatever it’s worth, Talbs has looked better than Ritter in these games by most accounts.

Sounds like Talbot was excellent last scrimmage.

Rittich has looked really awkward on most goals against in the 3 scrimmages, which only means so much but doesn't inspire confidence for sure.

I hope Rittich is just trying to boost the players' confidence.

Nice to hear Johnny scored on a breakaway. We need some more of that.

Seems like a lot of them are in that problematic "up high" near his shoulder spot.

The fact Rittich wasn't already on his knees covering the five-hole when he knows full-well he could be laying flat on the ice and Gaudreau would still go five-hole tells me all I need to know.

Talbot = Game 1 starter

Ah, he surprised Rittich by just shooting five hole on his forehand for once.

I'd say that was just a sneaky shot by Monahan. He had the time and space to basically use his shootout move, which works 30% of the time

Don't forget....BSD raising his arms in the air whenever Johnny gets a clear breakaway....so maybe trying to boost his teammates confidence a little?

No surprise to hear people jump down David's throat though....well done.

I'm just glad the fivehole goal wasnt a soft backhand.

Seen enough of that move from him hahah.
