Really liking Gustafsson's o-zone work thus far. You can see why they gave up a pick for him.

He's also making a case to re-sign to if he was so inclined.

I have seen enough NHL training camps to not put much of any stock at all in how goalies look during scrimmages and exhibition games. Goalies more than any other player depend on timing and mental focus that cannot be replicated outside of meaningful game situations.

Should we start penciling Mackey into future D corps line ups now? Me thinks the answer is yes.

Sounds like through the 2 scrimmages Talbot has been much sharper. Rittich has looked off in the goals against.

Of course that only means so much, but there's not much else to go off of at this point so it would make sense if Talbot is pulling ahead.

I hope Rittich pulls it together and regains his mojo, but I am fine with starting Talbot if he looks like the best option. The next series is so short that you cannot afford to screw around and try and get one player going at the expense of the team.

Mackey had the puck bounce on him allowing Robinson to make the pass.

Hearing about Mackey and seeing those highlights, definitely has me excited for this kid for next season.

Wasn't Rittich basically terrible in training camp and preseason at the start of the season and then lights out starting game one?

I think he'll be OK but it's good to have both options.

I get the desire to see some hockey, or anything else to break routine but my point was simple.

Calling for a live stream of practice (in any form) is just asking to lose.

Mackey making some real rookie mistakes but I guess that's to be expected. Bobbled the puck and was shut off it by Buddy Robinson today and was easily stripped of the puck yesterday by Lindholm (I think).

Have high hopes for him but those were two brutal plays. Without getting to watch it all it's tough to say as both were unfortunate "highlights" for him. Hope his body of work is better.

Calgary has their own first and second picks for once ... so they'll add two interesting players to the prospect list that will be up the list.

But I'll be interesting to see where we put Mackey on the prospect ranking list after the draft in October (that felt odd)
