I don't really know what TO thinks, but I don't see anything that would tell ME otherwise.

Their 5v5 points per 60 minutes are very similar over the last 4 seasons, but then you look and see that the best C Johnny plays with is Monahan and that Marner plays with Matthews and Tavares, so....

I wonder how often JG would score 90-100+ points with an elite #1C like Matthews or Tavares?

Some of you are day drinking. I can tell.

Either that or your mothers did.

These trade ideas are ridiculous.

Hall watch. Sounds like the Coyotes are making a major push to re-sign Hall.

Craig Custance
@CraigCustance
Sounds like Coyotes and Taylor Hall have re-engaged in contract talks. Although I think it's new CEO Xavier Gutierrez running point on negotiations and not GM John Chayka. Hall would be the top UFA forward if he hits the market.

Craig Morgan @CraigSMorgan
Can confirm.
It is unusual that Gutierrez has taken the reins of the negotiations & the timing is surprising with the Coyotes-Predators play-in round series less than two weeks away.
Both camps had previously said they wanted Hall to focus on hockey while the season was active.

Although his agent still says they plan on waiting until later before considering

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Further to this, word is there was a dinner meeting last week between Hall, Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo, son Alex Jr and new COO Xavier Gutierrez. Chayka was not present. Team has declined comment. As for Hall’s plans...(1/2)

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Agent Darren Ferris says, “The plan was from the beginning to wait until the end of the season to begin any negotiations, and that is still the plan.”

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Ferris would not comment on the meeting itself, or if any offers were made.

1. This is good for the Flames who could be spared from signing Hall
2. This bad for Chayka

Yeah, I think the Flames continued streak of overpaying middle tier talent and not winning playoff series has been excellent. Elite talent? We better stay away from that so we can then spend money on crap players who make their teammates worse.

Flames never get top tier UFA talent, Flames never have success. Not the only reason of course, but it is one of them.

If he doesn't sign here I will probably be disappointed in the moment. If he does sign here I probably will be disappointed in the long-term as it will prove not to be a great deal.

So either way I'm going to be disappointed? That hardly seems fair.

The should they/shouldn't they regarding Hall has been beaten to death on this site. My take was always that they shouldn't sign him but probably would given the near deal last winter.

Exactly.

What's more harmful to the team, signing Hall for $8M or signing another Brouwer type of player for $4.5M or Neal for $5.75M?

If Hall is interested in signing in Calgary the team has to pursue it regardless of what Gaudreau's future holds with the team. We may not get another chance at a top UFA for decades.

Them why would you trade the cheaper Johnny for Marner when you don’t think it’s an improvement?

Marner is signed longer (3 extra years of control), and the right shot also helps.

I’ll be bummed if Hall signs with the Yotes. I’m fully behind signing him and trading Johnny for pieces to help this club jump forward. This situation doesn’t happen often, especially for small market teams like us.

I have interest in a buy low swap.

If Bennett has another decent playoff a one for one trade could make sense?

Maloney would be able to provide input

If they can sign Hall for 8M or less then they should take a chance and do it, gotta think he wants more than that though and I'd be shocked if Arizona wasn't offering more. Signing Hall to 9 or 10M will be a mistake in my opinion. It would be interesting to know if there have been any talks with other teams about Gaudreau and what they are offering because he would have to go to make the cap work.

If Hall re-ups in ARZ, awesome. I wasn't on the Hall train anyway. I just accepted the ever increasing possibility that he is coming here.

I'm going out on a limb here and say he is going to be a Flame in time for next season.

I sure hope you’re right because there are some reputable sources who believe Johnny won’t re-up with us.
