I'm curious what Biden could actually do to cost himself serious support. Not being Trump is looking increasingly likely to be good enough, so the bar seems pretty high as to what would cost Biden anything meaningful. Trump's narcissism just won't allow him to shut the #### up to stop making everything worse. I don't think he's tanking, he just can't help himself.

You're right, he just can't help himself. And something that's sorely needed during a pandemic, empathy. Something Trump has none of. He hasn't made one speech talking about the well-being of people.
As much as some may not like Trudeau, since day one, he's been there every day at 11:30am ET updating the situation and showing empathy to Canadian Citizens. Even if you feel that's all empty, it's nice.

The negative theory is that they're hiding Biden to prevent him from hurting himself by saying something stupid.
The positive theory is Biden's campaign understood that in 2016 whoever was in the media saw their support drop, so they're simply staying out of the spotlight and letting Trump drown himself.
A lot can happen in 3.5 months and the debates are a wildcard. If it's more of the first I wonder if the campaign will do something like refuse to debate until Trump releases his tax returns.
The positive bump of a good debate is nice but usually temporary.

It’s unfortunate that we’ve gone so far down the ####ter that empty empathy is relieving to see... but you’re right.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Friday she is receiving chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer, but has no plans to retire from the Supreme Court.
The 87-year-old Ginsburg, who spent time in the hospital this week for a possible infection, said her treatment so far has succeeded in reducing lesions on her liver and that she will continue chemotherapy sessions every two weeks.
“I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that,” Ginsburg said in a statement issued by the court.

Poor woman. Highly doubtful at her age that she can, despite her claims, keep up with a full workload while going through rounds of chemo. People in her situation would typically have trouble just getting out of bed.
But she knows that giving Mitch another SC court seat to pack with one of his toadies pretty much dooms America to the GOP dropping a deuce on society for an entire generation.
It must be awfully strange to know that your life is coming to an end, and perhaps the most important thing you can do for the world - is just hang on for a few more months.

She's literally trying to stay alive to save her country. Insane.

I love RBG, but the worst decision she ever made was not retiring five years ago (at age 82!) when Obama could have chosen her successor. If Trump (or another Republican president) replaces her on the court with another right-wing ideologue, her judicial legacy will be un-done for an entire generation of Americans.
