The 26-year-old ordered a Peloton bike early in the pause and logged a lot of miles on the rollerblades that the Flames shipped south to him, but there’s no substitute for actually being on a frozen-sheet.
It's a proven method.

Who the hell is Scott Rintoul? Google says he works for Sportsnet radio in Vancouver. I assume that makes him less knowledgeable about the Flames than Eric Francis.

Based on what has (and hasn't) been said by Ward and others, I'd guess that the second group is practicing separately for this reason (from the RTP Phase 3 plan):

Quote:
8. PERSONS WITH CLOSE CONTACT

In the event of an initial positive finding for COVID-19 for a person covered by this Protocol (“Index Person”):
  • Club Medical, with their ID expert, shall conduct a contact tracing immediately upon receiving the Index Person’s first positive test, which shall done in conjunction with, and pursuant to, regulations from local health authorities (if any), to determine whether other Players or any other person that had access to the training facility had “close contact” with the Index Person.
    • The team physician or infectious disease expert may also seek to identify other people, not covered by this Protocol, who have been in contact with the Index Person, including family and other household members, as appropriate and consistent with, regulations of local health authorities.
  • Any such person shall be considered to be a “Close Contact” if they have been in contact for 15 minutes or longer at 6 feet or less with the Index Person (regardless of whether facial protection is worn) in the 48 hour period leading up to the time the Index Person’s test was taken (if asymptomatic), or 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms in the Index Person.
  • Close Contacts shall be tested immediately through the administration of a RT-PCR test.

Close Contacts whose test results are positive for COVID-19 shall:
  • be subject to the provisions of Section G(1) of this Protocol regarding test confirmation and isolation.

Close Contacts who test negative for COVID-19 shall:
  • be subject to daily symptom and temperature monitoring and daily PCR testing for 14 days; and
  • shall not be subject to quarantine provided that the following conditions are satisfied for such 14 day period:
    1. The person remains asymptomatic and afebrile (free of fever), and
    2. The results of PCR testing are negative on each occasion.
  • NOTE: In the event that the Index Person is subsequently found to be negative on confirmatory testing, the Close Contact measures no longer apply.

During the 14-day period described above, the Close Contact shall be reminded of their obligations to observe the requirements regarding social distancing and use of PPE.

Upon developing any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or if any PCR test results return positive, the Close Contact shall be required to immediately end their participation in any Club activity, shall self-isolate, shall contact the Club physician and, thereafter, shall be subject to the applicable provisions of this Protocol.
It would make sense if Dube and Robinson have tested positive, Johnny and the other members of the second group would be in the "Close Contact" category. As long as they don't test positive, they can continue to practice, but they're keeping that group separate just in case.

Yeah, no chance in hell that is happening.
you mean the highest paid medical personnel in Canada, both doctors and nurses. No problem when they leave we can just offer health care people from other provinces jobs and get them to move here.

Well he did sign a contract that ate up some of his UFA years, so there is that.

If you adjust the salaries to match inflation of other salaries across the province, we pay less than several provinces. Alberta pays more for work across the board.

The last half of your idiotic statement shows just how out of touch with reality you are. Go ask BC how their doctor attraction efforts have been going.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames head coach Geoff Ward on Rittich or Talbot getting the call in game one vs. Winnipeg:

“We’ll go with the guy who’s playing the best out of training camp.”

Not overly surprising, but have to think both goalies are on pretty even footing right now.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames coach Geoff Ward just said on video conference that the current roster split at training camp has nothing to do with who is in shape/who isn't. Says team is really happy with the conditioning level after the pause.

Ryan Pike @RyanNPike
#Flames interim HC Geoff Ward anticipates dressing pretty close to the club's Game 1 roster in their exhibition game against Edmonton. Really likes the match-up as a pre-playoff tune-up due to a lot of Edmonton's traits.

He's on 960 from 10 to 12. He was interviewing Darren Pang and they were discussing Gaudreau's poor season.

He's very much aware that he's on in Calgary so I'm sure he chose his words carefully. He think he mentioned it was pure speculation a couple of times.

Nope, talking about this moron: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Shandro

the fact that he's the founder (and his wife is still working at) of a private insurance company should give anyone pause about his intentions, but he's also already blatantly enriched himself through policy changes so we don't even have to speculate.

Failed insurance salesman needed to bribe his way into party power to change the rules. Now he's doing so.

You might want to proof read, sounds like you're saying you adjusted Alberta's medical salaries for inflation - but not other provinces.

I know nurses who treat money as no object even in these times. Go tell that to unemployed or underemployed Albertans. They should graciously accept pay cuts in return for no job losses.

You shouldn't have even turned a light hearted comment into a political debate - but if your side wants to take shots, we'll respond with the truth.

I know that was tongue in cheek ... but as a fyi I did hear the Flames took the blades off of each player's skates, put the latest inline tech on them and sent them out so guys could work with their own skates.

If most (no other) teams didn't do this, it could be a huge advantage.

hell no, dude. The public sector doesn't deserve a penny of pay cuts. They didn't see half the benefit of the oil booms, and haven't seen raises in years. The oil workers should have put some money away for a rainy day.
