Going out on a limb and say you don’t have any kids.

I just think it is interesting when people go out of their way to volunteer arguably irrelevant info.

I do know he is not going to be spending his off time eating vegan or doing yoga though. Because people who do those things will be sure to tell you about them

Hope that helps, friend

Excuse me? I'm not the one who needs any clarification nor any kind of "help"
You're just not respectful of other peoples' religious beliefs.

Comparing a serious thing like religion - to yoga or veganism - when religion deals with life after death & the fact COVID can be fatal - that's pure disrespect on your part.
You comment comes across as trying to make a borderline comment against Hamonic's religion, you're dancing on both sides of the red line, but you've clearly crossed it, and then follow up with more insults and laughing!
The classy thing to do is to apologize - that's what Christian faith teaches, and I'm glad to have been taught things like apologizing and forgiveness because I'm not perfect myself. So for me atheism is completely unattractive because too often I see someone screw up, realize they did something wrong, then other people come along and label them a "bad person" for the rest of their lives.
How hard is it to accept these players' reasons, and say, "cool, I'm glad you have the freedom to decide what's best for yourself, and to have free speech, you're not hurting anyone" Hamonic's statement was perfect - in fact the truth is he really doesn't have to explain himself, so be thankful he did.

Understand and respect Hamonic’s decision, he’s a family man first and foremost and I’d probably do the same thing in his position.

But at the same time from a Flames hockey perspective, it’ll be tough to lose a top 4 defenseman, especially one who Treliving paid a 1st and 2 second round picks for. In the end, Hamonic’s tenure with the Flames includes 1 playoff appearance, a quick first round exit and one year just outside the playoffs. Not exactly a great deal in the end if you ask me. His oft-injured status would also scare me away from a new contract.

I like Hamonic. Seems like a great guy. He puts his body on the line no matter what. However, he doesn’t seem to be the top-4 guy everyone once thought. In fact, I think his absence will help Brodie, Hanifin and Andersson solidify themselves in the top 4. Even if Hamonic showed up, I’d rather see him outside the top 4.

I won't be thrilled if he signs a big deal somewhere and is playing again in December

Cross that bridge if we come to it. His intentions seem pure and you can't really question his reasoning.

There are also 5 months between now and December, and a lot of things can change by then.

The Flames will miss Hamonic's grit in the playoffs, and if he's played his last game with us I will miss having him in our silks. Class act as a person, and an old school warrior who was always the first one in the pile pulling guys off teammates or chucking knuckles in defense of someone who got run over.

I understand Hamonics decision and I don’t respect it at all.

Was he bringing his wife and kid to Edmonton with him? Cause that would be stupid.

He would live in a bubble and be away from his wife and kid. So the kid that has recovered 8 months ago that has no apparent side effects after that 8 months ago is healthy. The child is at no risk to get sick. Nor his wife!

Travis Hamonic made this choice for selfish reasons. To protect himself not his family.

If I was Hamonic I probably make the same choice. You had a really sick daughter 8 months ago. Your father died at a young age! That is more about the mental make up of harmonic. Scared.
With that said being a multi millionaire, and having the option not to play and get paid, I understand the choice. If that was my life I probably make the same choice.

I hold no ill will towards the guy. Yet he is not a hero. He seems to be a good person but this choice was for selfish reasons. By the new CBA completely allowed!

Look no further than Max Domi. Domi has a legit reason not to play. He has a health issue, Hamonic does not.

I am not here to bash Hamonic. He was able to make a choice so many of us cannot make. He can quit his job and be paid in full. Not everyone has that option. Am I jealous? Absolutely.

The excuse he uses is BS though! Maybe it is fear, getting sick and leaving his kid without a dad? Every player faces that.

That is why I don’t try to pound on the guy to hard.

Hamonic left the team for selfish reasons. I don’t blame the guy. Yet it is what it is.

His family is not in harms way. Only him. A sick daughter 8 months ago is not a good excuse. I mean how is she gonna get sick if she is not here?

Nice guy, good human. He decides not to play hockey? I am not that upset.

I would be more upset if my local grocery store worker never came to work.

That is a whole other discussion.

The really annoying thing to me is that I'm confident chubey wouldn't tell Travis Hamonic to his face that he's scared, yet he feels fine saying it anonymously.

It really is the worst thing about social media interactions in my opinion.

Lots of reports out there, talking about people recovering from COVID19 - then catching it again because it merely went into submission..

As for pre-existing medical conditions - next time leave that to actual medical experts..

Also, we'll see how tough you are if you ever catch the disease. It's not a matter of being scared - it's about acting responsibly so that you and those you interact with are safe...

Tap the breaks next time before you say anything and think. I've heard near death stories about how people came back and learned to care more about how they made other people feel, rather than being "logical" and driven by earthly possessions
