I have already spoken to numerous Edmontonians who are "Excited for the opportunity to see so many NHL stars in person in one place!"

Edmontonians have lost all concept of the social distancing protocols already and are preparing to hoard NHL players wherever possible.
Going to be fun lol.

The covid rules are going to once again be exposed as ridiculous and lacking common sense.

Players will be out practicing and playing games in 3-4 hour blocks where they focus on close contact where they will be breathing heavily on one another.

Then immediately after they have to isolate themselves wearing face coverings and social distancing in all places except their hotel rooms.

There are 35 players currently testing positive for Covid out of the 350 getting tested daily.

Will these 35 players get to have family contact in their hotel rooms?

There is no mention of the numbers who have had Covid and have now tested covid clear.

Austin Matthews was announced to have tested positive for Covid on June 19 18 or more days since he tested positive. Is he good to go?

There is no mention of the results of antibody testing to show who has had covid and recovered. If the NHL has not done that on the 350 or all the members of the players union I would be very surprised. Maybe this information is available to players and that is why they all appear ready to go.

Sometime in the next 2 weeks the Canadian COVID-19 Immunity Task Force will be releasing the results of antibody testing of thousands of Canadians who have donated blood over the last 4 months and is expected that the recovered case rate will be 10 to 20 times what was being reported by only testing symptomatic people.

I can't see any way that this goes from start to finish without significant issues ranging from a stoppage to a full blown cancellation. Way too many contact points are being allowed into this 'bubble' despite the precautions being taken.

Who said any of the people I referenced were my friends? I realize it's your shtick but you could really use some reading comprehension practice.

Though I may at one time have referred to Matt Wolf as a friend so your opinion in this regard may hold some merit, albeit slight.

Anyone who tests positive for covid-19 needs to in complete isolation, whether you are a hockey player or not. So no, they are not going into a hotel room their family.

Generally speaking, you are considered to have recovered from covid-19 once you have two consecutive negative tests. The numbers of days since you positive test is not really a consideration as the recovery times can vary. So Mathews needs two negative tests before he'll be cleared to play or interact with anyone for that matter. I think you are being confused with incubation times, which is accepted to be 1-14 days, with an average of 5 days. That means if you have been exposed and you don't show symptoms or test positive within 14 days, you are likely not going to get sick from that exposure.

The antibody study will be interesting for sure, but I don't think it means much for the NHL right now. Early studies are showing the level of antibodies and how often they stick around can vary. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they stick around for very long (<3 months).

Finally, some information about scheduling from Bobo: https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider...-shape~1990755

It's basically the same thing I suggested yesterday, which probably means it's a stupid plan.

Up to 3 games per day to take place at 12:00pm, 4:00pm, and 8:00pm local time in each hub city.

During the play-in round, the Round Robin games being played between the top-4 in each Conference will be assigned the 4:00pm time slot. If the early game goes into multiple OTs, they'll have a cushion to allow them to bump the 4:00pm game and not push back the start time of the 8:00pm game.

McKenzie with some follow-up tweets for clarification...

https://twitter.com/user/status/1280603734075224064

Since they can wrap everything up for the play-in rounds in 10 days and 14 days for the regular playoff rounds just by having each series play on alternating days, I don't know how many 3-game days they'll need to schedule once the actual playoffs start.

I assume they'll schedule the 3-game days on the weekends to reduce the number of mid-day games needed during the week.

It is possible that on August 1, we'll have 6 games being played, starting every 2 hours from 10am to 8pm MT. By August 2, everyone will be sick of NHL hockey being back.

With the likely lack of masks and regard for distancing the players will come to see Edmontonians like apocalyptic zombies as they try to maintain the integrity of the bubble.

NHL may want to arm them with shields and pikes as they move from busses to facilities.

These 35 players that have covid now will very likely be recovery, have their 2 negative tests and be back in the lineup well before the August 1 start of hockey.

They will have antibodies and will not contract or pass the disease to the other players or their families.

What you are saying is that the whole 14 day isolation exercise is terribly flawed. If you have covid with no symptoms you are saying that you might carry the covid with you for longer than 14 days and go and infect all of Costco after your 14 day isolation.

BUT the Who came out with a statement that was beaten back that there was an incredibly small risk of infecting anyone else... pretty much in line in trustworthiness as the supposed early studies that antibodies are transient.

Yeah, it's weird.

The Flames will have to beat Winnipeg for me to be able to watch them play on my birthday. It's a Saturday, so the late HNIC against Vegas would be nice.

I finish my current courses at the end of the month so it will be such an awesome reward to celebrate with.

Especially if we open a can of whoopass on the Jets in the Oilers building while the Oilers faceplant against the hawks and fail to qualify yet again for the POs.

Does this sort of thing just require 51% of the vote to pass?

I’m curious how OT playoff hockey changes without fans. Like everything in all sports will be worse, but I bet losing the building tension there will be the biggest overall loss. 18,000 people audibly holding their breath can’t be replicated.
