His ranking system is hilarious ...

1. Minutes played - so terrible but best defenseman on a terrible team gets a huge ranking
2. Points/60 - offensive defenseman only awarded
3. Shots/60 - see Points/60
4. Hits/60 - physical defenseman only, and most erratic hockey stat out there

Giordano is 22nd in ice time, and 24th in hits per 60 so yeah he's ranked 20th for Canadian defensemen.

I wonder where Roman Josi ranks according to that metric... High for points I'm sure but not so much for everything else. Arguably the best d-man in the sport right now.

Five on five he's

7th in ice time
4th in points/60
2nd in shots/60
170th in hits/60

He averages his rankings so Josi would be 46th in the league in defenseman.

Solid model!

Tchychowsky blocked me and I have 0 tweets. I assume it was for 'liking' tweets that made fun of the oilers.

I always wondered why the high level floor hockey guys don't do field hockey and go to the olympics. I get that in Canada typically field hockey is female directed, but how annoying is it that we could dominate at it and we're not there.

"Ty Conklin."

Twisting statistics into logical origami is called a "Ty Conklin."

As in: "David Staples Ty Conklined those numbers to make the Oilers player look better."

Very different games, ball hockey (which is essentially ice hockey, without ice) and field hockey.

Incidentally, ball hockey has become increasingly popular globally--many Canadians have played for other countries (for example: India) at the World Championships.

Just like Edmonton, field hockey is no good.

It appears 'Saint Kassian' is an altogether different type of Angel...

Quote:
An Alberta member of the Hells Angels posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account last Friday with Edmonton Oilers winger Zack Kassian.

“Hockey is almost back and so are the deadly mutton chops,” full-patch Angel Dustin Lowry captioned the photo that shows him almost head-to-head with the 29-year-old NHLer.

Tim Shipton, the Oilers’ vice-president of communications and government relations, said Kassian was at an Edmonton coffee shop when a fan approached him for a photo.

“Zack said it was in a public location and he doesn’t know the guy,” Shipton said Tuesday. “(Zack) is a blue-collar, fan-friendly guy. He’s beloved in our city.”

Players get approached by fans all the time, Shipton noted, adding that it would be next to impossible to vet every fan who they agree to take a photo with.

Kassian, however, follows Lowry’s Instagram account, which is locked to general users. He has thousands of followers, but follows just 464 accounts himself.

Lowry also commented on a photo that Kassian posted in May, showing Kassian on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, inviting Kassian to come for a ride with Lowry in Edmonton.

They must have stayed six feet apart though, right? This is going to go well.

“Vice President of communications and government relations”?
Clearly a politician then, talking out of his ass with all the evidence that these guys know each other.

I though Kassian got tangled up with some of these types of gang fellas somewhere along the way at a previous stop in his career as well.

Oh its even better. Not only were they not maintaining 6-foot social distancing, the Hell's Angel in question commutes to another HA chapter in Greece.

Back and forth.

I cant imagine there being any consequences for that...

But hey, the geniuses picked Edmonton as a hub.

It has to be obvious to everyone that there's a good chance that the caveman would be a criminal if he wasn't a hockey player.
