What would it take from the Rangers to get Johnny?

Doesnt make sense at all...they already have Kreider and Panarin on LW who combined will make 18M per starting the next season played. Johnny will be getting North of 8 per in a couple years....plus one of those guys would be getting close to 3rd line minutes unless they switch sides.

Georgiev, Deangelo, Andersson, 9th pick for Johnny. Rangers know what they would be getting in Johnny especially with merch sales etc.

Georgiev, Deangelo, pick is what this person said. Looks like fan speculation to me and no way would that be a good return.
I guess if the Rangers get the 9th pick it is in the ballpark but not the deal I hope the Flames make
|
Ya that's the one I saw, and I'm definitely not on board with their speculation at all but that doesn't necessarily mean the actual rumour isn't true. I feel like these accounts kind of have to pul some speculation out of their butt to write an accompanying article when they hear a rumour and they usually aren't very good at that part.
I have a tough time speculating from the Rangers because I don't know their players too well but what about something like
Gaudreau, Jankowski
for
Gauthier, Deangelo, NYR1 and Andersson
too little? or is that around the ballpark we are thinking?

Thats two former 1sts in Andersson and Gauthier (22 and 21 years old) both with huge bust potential, and very low ceilings. They'd probably both end up as NHLers full time, but on the bottom lines. Plus both would be expansion draft eligible, so if they did come to CGY and break out, they would have to be protected or potentially lost for nothing.
Plus a mid first this year, which is nice but nothing magical.
Then you have DeAngelo who was on pace for over 60 points this year as a 24 year old right shot Dman. He'd be a great addition, but again another piece that needs to be protected in an expansion draft, giving the Flames their 4th NHL Dman that needs to be protected (5 if you count Kylington). He's also an RFA who will be looking for large money after his last two seasons.
Honestly not a great package for Johnny that could potentially really cause expansion draft problems.

No, unlike Tom...this guy can actually play and would be a nice piece to get in return.
Although flipping him to Carolina would be sort of amusing.

The Rangers did this before with Vesey.
Vesey was drafted by Nashville, played all 4 years of college at Harvard, and then wouldn't sign with them. In fact said he wasnt signing with anyone and going to go UFA. Buffalo traded for his rights anyways, he didnt sign with them, went UFA and signed with the Rags. Couple years later they traded him to Buffalo haha. Ouch

Yeah I had andersson as kind of a throw in, reclamation project/swap for Janko but it all came down to what one thinks Gauthier could be. Had pretty good numbers in the AHL but struggling to gain a foot in the NHL but I definitely agree that we could get a better package.

Why would you take Georgiev out of the deal? I'd take him over Gauthier+ Andersson all day. In fact he'd be my first target on the Rangers.

I didnt like DeAngelo in the proposed deal that won Eklinds trade contest. I'd like Andersson and Booch.

I really like what I’ve seen out of Georgiev. Been following him for hockey pool reasons, but what a great add he would be to the Flames. See who comes out on top after a year or 2, and you’ll still have a tradeable starting goalie in my opinion.

Im surprised anybody would want a goalie anywhere near a Gaudreau return package. Goalies are voodoo at the best of times and there is an expansion draft looming.

That Rangers package does nothing for our biggest needs. The only guy on the Rangers I want is Zibby, would gladly add to JG to get him.

I’m still so pissed the flames missed the boat on him. Rangers got a great player there who does it all. Great contract too.

Yeah, why would anyone want a 24 year old potential #1 goaltender that has looked very good in the NHL so far?
The kid is 3 years younger than Rittich and has put up comparable numbers on a far worse defensive team.

I'd really like to see a Gaudreau trade involve a 1a/1b C coming back... But, if those trades aren't there I'd happily take a potential #1G, potential #1RD, and a 1st, no questions asked.
If the Flames falter this summer, it might be a sign a shake up is required anyway, and altering your crease and top pair definitely does that.
