Not sure where to put this, but Public Enemy just did an epic performance of 'Fight the Power on the BET awards.
The lyrics got a bit of reboot with versus honouring Floyd and Taylor.
It's amazing sad that that song still has so much relevance after 30 years.

Thanks for mentioning. Didn’t find a YouTube link but it’s on BETs website.

Longer video of the brute squad cracking down on the violin concert in Aurora:
What I don't understand, and I'd really like someone to explain this to me, is how are the police so effing stupid? They know there's an intense amount of international attention currently being given to excessive use of force by American police departments, so what would possibly make them think it's a good idea to equip their riot gear and act like a bunch of fascist goons by breaking up a peaceful concert? Were they planning to lie about it and say that it was an unlawful violent riot? Did they fail to consider that literally everyone in attendance has a video camera in their pockets and would record their actions? Can they really be that dumb? What positive outcome were they possibly thinking would result from this? Who does this serve? Who does this protect?

The news cycle is short. The sooner there aren’t protests the sooner the public moves on. So just enough violence is required to surpress protests to make it feel unsafe to attend but not enough to make people want to protest more.
This strategy has worked since Reagan dealt with unions.

The fact they don't care is all the more reason to be terrified. If this is what they are willing to do when the whole world is watching, what will they do when the world moves on.
Have you ever asked yourself why there is more violence within neighborhoods that are predominantly made of people of color? I'm guessing not, but you should.
Black people were forced into neighborhoods away from white people as a way of segregating us after segregation was illegal. Then what happened? The CIA and US government pumped those neighborhoods full of drugs and started a "war on drugs" so they could legally enslave us again, this time in prisons rather than plantations.
Black people are paid less than their white counterparts, this disparity in income makes it so schools in black neighborhoods get lesser funding. Nevermind even finding a job if you have been to prison. This causes them to sell drugs and steal cars because it is the only way for them to make money.
Black on black violence is the result of systemic racism, it not because we don't care about the lives of our own people.
This ####ing bull#### is #### racists say in order to try and distract people from the real problems and push the blame elsewhere.
The solution starts with ending the war on drugs, stopping for profit prisons and making a school budget based on the number of students, not the amount of taxes paid in their neighborhoods and invest in the neighborhoods. You do that and you see black on black violence crater and black people start to flourish

A small part of me feels bad for them that they are that afraid. At the same time, they each have their gun pointed at the other at multiple points. Idiots.
It honestly looks like she's never handled a gun in her entire life. You never point at anything you aren't willing to shoot, and she's blithely pointing it at passersby with a casually bent arm that would render her ineffective anyway. Someone shouldn't be holding a gun for the first time when they're scared and anxious. That's how accidental shootings occur.
This is a deadly accident waiting to happen.

But while the cases of Mr. Garner and Mr. Floyd shocked the nation, dozens of other incidents with a remarkable common denominator have gone widely unacknowledged. Over the past decade, The New York Times found, at least 70 people have died in law enforcement custody after saying the same words — “I can’t breathe.” The dead ranged in age from 19 to 65. The majority of them had been stopped or held over nonviolent infractions, 911 calls about suspicious behavior, or concerns about their mental health. More than half were black.
Dozens of videos, court documents, autopsies and police reports reviewed in these cases — involving a range of people who died in confrontations with officers on the street, in local jails or in their homes — show a pattern of aggressive tactics that ignored prevailing safety precautions while embracing dubious science that suggested that people pleading for air do not need urgent intervention.
I was going to post that one this morning, but it seemed like really terrible involvement from that mob. They really did corner him in and almost dared him to do something to get out of it, unlike some of the other ones where the cops seemed happy to drive into crowds with other options present.
