Still don't get why Canadian sports media had a blackout on the Matthews Covid issue. They had no problem reporting on players with Covid in other sports, so it's nothing to do with a persons right to privacy.
Just guessing the hammer came down from each stations upper management. Just not sure why. Covid is life now. Of course players are going to get it.

Probably because it was Simmons and he got the news unethically.
Simmons is a rat.

I’ll be on the look out for it in other posts now, but his initial tweet saying “my story” struck me as odd.
Isn’t there a professional term for that? Exclusive? Sounds much better than “me me me”

Why is he so popular in the Toronto market? I don't get it as he has to be one of the all-time worst Canadian sports journalists.

He remains employed in that market so someone must like him. I get that Eric Francis remains employed in the Calgary market despite not being the most popular journalist but I think Simmons is much more of an extreme when it comes to being a poor journalist.

They’re kinda the same villain. Both work for the Sun, both think they are Eric Duhatschek.
Some I’m sure like them. But when I consider people “popular” it’s due to a majority of people enjoying them.

The reality is that at their best they are poor man's version of Bruce Dowbiggin.

In the running for Hub Cities? [twitter, some of this may be hearsay]:
Some are saying Chicago is out, Vancouver is out, and I have to think LA is out now. That leaves 3 sites? Vegas, Edmonton and Toronto.

I heard on the radio here that the province of BC is saying no to Vancouver.
I would have to think L.A. is out considering that their COVID-19 numbers are peaking again.

I sure hope we can break away from the US and float into the Atlantic. Shorter flights to Europe!

Toronto and Vancouver or Edmonton seem pretty reasonable if they want to have an event without Covid impacting it. The surge across the US makes it not feasible to have all the support staff you need to host a 1000 people be highly likely to be Covid free.

How embarrassing for the states if they held it exclusively in Canada.

Another thing to consider is the health of their families. Obviously most players are in fantastic physical shape, and may be better suited to fight off illness, but their families may not be. I know for example TJ Brodie's wife has MS; I'm sure there are plenty of others with compromised immune systems. It's one thing to risk your own health, but It's completely different to risk your family's health

Absolutely. I think the wives would be legitimately concerned about what three months of Edmonton would do to their SO. They might never be the same after that.

But they can go relax in the Rockies and be back by game time.
