Best two parts of working at home has been the extra hours with my daughter, and the lunch time bike rides. I had my closest call with a golf ball today by McKenzie Meadows, it rolled right between my tires. My last two times out I’ve put up my two fastest times up the Cranston Zigzags! It’s not an impressive time compared to many, but a PR is always a nice little confidence boost!

It’s closed to Castle Mountain Junction. An excellent family day trip is biking around Castle junction 6km to Johnson canyon, do the hike, then bike back. It’s relatively flat, it’s going to get super popular though as Hikimg a relatively empty Johnson Canyon is pretty neat.

I'd imagine there is lots of parking in Banff these days, not sure if there is a 2 hour limit though for the free stuff. There is a pay parkade in town. The road along the river used to be a good place as well. If you want to park closer I think you might be able to use the parking area just after you exit the highway on the right, but not sure on that.

that bike looks so clean, but yet at the same time missing something.
as i see more bikes with hidden cabling i'd expect it to be less less noticeable - if that makes sense.
i love the red stem and seatpost mast. I am guessing that bike retails for $900 or so

They definitely look track bikes with brakes on first glance but I love the clean look of cableless. Hopefully they become more commonplace and affordable. I'm sure mechanics don't.
This one is a paltry €4000 just for the frame.

Does anyone have a recent route for the Tour de Calgary? Looking to do it in a couple weeks and the route I had saved to Strava is 5 years old and I'm sure many of the paths have changed since then.

Speaking of changing paths- has anybody taken the new one that was part of the Heritage flood prevention project? https://www.calgary.ca/transportatio...gefloodbarrier
(I'm especially looking at you Ktrain- with all of your exploring.)
I would love to be able to avoid the hill at Lynnview if possible, and I think that would also be encouragement for others to start commuting.

As of yesterday the West Bank pathway is still blocked off, and has not yet been paved. Just basic earthwork thus far.

For those that have been doing this a long time, are bike shop websites generally full of crap on parts and accessories actually in stock, or is this a covid high demand thing? Been informed multiple times now after purchase that in stock was an error.

I think the Covid demand wreaked havoc on the inventory/computer system. A salesperson at Bow Cycle told me that they were getting so many orders online that they were struggling with the system reflecting the proper inventory.

Any advice or tips here appreciated, although Im sure the conclusion will be to take in for servicing. This is a new bike, but I didn’t purchase in Calgary, so taking back to retailer is tough.
Purchased a Specialized Allez Sport a month ago and have been experiencing some ghosting/slipping on a single gear since almost the beginning- 3rd largest cog. At first I thought it was only when pedalling under pressure, but flipping the bike over and just hand pedalling, I can see the chain disengaging from the cog and attempting to switch to the next largest- it doesn’t though, just engages again and continues to keep slipping.
First guess was cable tension issue, but wouldn't it occur on every gear then? Derailleur alignment appears ok. So seems like some incorrect set up by tech.
Anyway, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I've had a similar issue on my old CX bike (which I never did manage to fix, so take the below with a grain of salt).
I might suggest taking off the cassette, cleaning it if necessary, and reinstalling, making sure the lock ring is snug. Then I'd try fiddling with the barrel adjuster just a tiny bit to see if it either resolves the problem, or moves the problem to another cog. If it does move around (i.e. the problem jumps from cog to cog as you turn the barrel adjuster) then I'd definitely take it into the shop since changing the cable tension won't be able to resolve the issue (just move it around).

Look carefully for a kink in the cable, #### through the gears to see if you can spot one. Any binding at any location where the cable goes in and out of the housing could cause this. Also check the B tension screw adjustment. Refer to the internet for what it should look like. Lots of info on how to set it up.
If your last resort is to take it to a shop, you may as well look online on how to tune a derailleur, maybe you can fix it, and if not, it was already messed up. Once you learn a few tricks, it's not a hard job, and will save you being out a bike when it goes bad!

Thanks for the feedback.
After looking a little closer, I can see the chain is slipping on a cog tooth that is not very well aligned with the previous one- chain misses the tooth on most passes- wouldn’t necessarily say the tooth is bent, but certainly not in line with the previous one. Not sure not great tooth alignment is common with a lower quality cassette, possible damage, or normal enough and still comes down to adjustment?

Do you have another cassette you can put on and try?
