"For the Man" Gift Ideas
Okay. As a girl, I know what I like as a romantic gift. Some flowers, wine, chocolate dipped strawberries, all served to me in a luxurious bubble bath surrounded by vanilla scented candles, followed by some loving.
Do men go for this stuff too? It's my turn to do valentines and I'm wondering if I should just buy him a new fishing pole and skip everything else and go right to the loving?
What say you? Are men romantic or do they act that way to make us happy?

You should maybe mention he doesn't like hockey or you're going to get a whack of "buy him some tickets!" responses. That was an awkward sentence.

Try to help him have this day:
10:00 Wake up
10:02 Oral sex
10:10 Big breakfast
11:30 Drive up coast in Ferrari with gorgeous babe (Pyro)
2:15 Enormous lunch
3:15 Oral sex
3:25 Play sports with the guys
4:30 Drink beer with the guys
6:40 Oral sex
6:50 Huge dinner, more beer
11:00 Full on, get down, gorilla sex
11:10 Sleep
Honestly, it depends on the guy - do whatever makes him happy - if its a fishing pole then do it - you know he'd do whatever he can to make you happy, so just show him you're willing to do the same.

He probably won't care all that much.
Buy yourself something skimpy that'd he'll like to see you in... then sexytime.
Perhaps cook him something too.

So....not romantic.
Sex and food. In that order.
Fun.

I agree!
No seriously, I'm not sure men care about that stuff as much as girls do. As long as he knows you care about him, I'm sure he should be happy. But there's tons of things a girl can do to surprise a guy.
What does he like to do that he doesn't get to do often?
Then go get him that. If its sex... then do that. Guess thats my advice.

I have taken the liberty of highlighting the most relevant parts of your post.
Although the new fishing pole is not a bad idea either.

Get him some candles and flowers. Guys secretly love that...
...okay, I'm kidding. Seriously, if you do nothing at all, he probably won't even notice. No guy would acknowledge wanting something for Valentine's Day.
If you really want to be romantic about it, give him an activity for the two of you to do together-or maybe a weekend in Banff.

I say no to the fishing pole. Otherwise, he may go camping/fishing once every 6-7 months with his good "fishing buddy" and that fishing rod will never get used.

I think the input you received in this thread just answered your question.
What is your hubby into? Cars? Golf? Clothes?

Well some rather classy responses in this thread so far.....
My wife does not cook period. So the one day she actually put in the effort to cook a meal for me when I had to work late and bought me some beer that really stuck out to me as something I appreciate more than any gift. So the exact same things that you like (or are supposed to like), may not have the same effect. But the idea's do. If he likes beer and enjoys Lasagne maybe get him a 6 pack of beer and make that meal for him. Of all the gifts my wife got me for Christmas the one I like best is the new golf shoes I'd been wanting to buy for years. So the fishing pole will likely be appreciated.

Can't go wrong with sex but if you really want to surprise him get him something like a night out or weekend away that he can do with the boys (not on V-Day). I know Valentines is supposed to be all about eachother but I know for me I rarely get to see some of my best friends anymore (they live out of town) and when I do I feel bad for leaving my wife at home.
