I don't believe Corsi meant it as a quote, but the fact that his crew found it and he was told it was a noose, which was confirmed by NASCAR and the FBI, I think the sentiment is the same. Who found it is more or less semantics.

Yes, it wasn't racially motivated or directed at him. And yes, his reaction at the time made the perfect sense given what he knew.

I think you missed the point of my post. WO403 had the reaction he did because he thought Wallace was still trying to push the narrative of this being a hate crime after the FBI concluded it wasn't. That wasn't what he was doing. Rather, Wallace was just trying to defend himself against the allegations that he had overreacted or made the whole thing up, or tried to mislead people into thinking something innocent was actually sinister. His point wasn't that it actually was sinister, his point was that it was totally understandable for him and his crew to have the reaction they did at the time.

Those different interpretations of the interview fully explain the several pages of argument in here. I was hoping WO403 would see that, and that it would dispel the confusion expressed here:

Thanks for posting this, I wish it was more common place online. Seems like everyone wants to die on every hill sometimes.

Disney is changing the theme of Splash Mountain at its 2 US parks from the controversial Uncle Remus/Song of the South to The Princess and the Frog: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...-kingdom-park/

The press release says that they've been working on this since last year, so it's not necessarily a decision made in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, but the announcement was likely accelerated to make sure the ride won't become a focus of protests when the parks reopen.

The Dixie Chicks announced they will now be The Chicks.

Isn't "chick" sexist?

I'm sure the baby bird lobby will be incensed by this decision.

More importantly is they do so as they release this new song.

Say what you want about their music, The Chicks aren't afraid to step into the spotlight and make a statement on the politics of the day, even if it means they are going to lose fans. If anyone is interested about their history and the lengths they will go to in making a statement, watch Shut Up and Sing, a documentary about the crap they went through when the criticized Bush. A very powerful documentary, ironically from the Weinstein Company.

Of course it lead to a smash hit with the song Not Ready to Make Nice. Hearing this song still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The messaging is so powerful because of the personal nature of the writers.

Music is a medium that can bring us all together if we just shut up and listen.

It's easy being morally and legally pure when you have every advantage in the world handed to you, try it growing up in the slums this guy came from in one of the worst cities in the US to be poor and Black, Houston, he grew up in a neighbourhood you or I couldn't imagine in out worst nightmares

So a noose is not a noose if its a garage door pull? I mean you can't hang a guy with it attached to a garage door but also its a completely stupid way to tie a knot for a pull rope....

FBI has a crack team of forensic analysts to determine what a noose is. Surprised they didn't call it a noose. EDIT: FBI did call it a noose, just not a racist noose. Which is fine, it didn't appear overnight in Wallace garage. Still, noose for a door pull is nonsense.

A noose, no sane human uses that knot on the end of rope to pull.

That looks like a noose to me. Certainly pops to mind before "garage door pull".

I'm going to pretend I have some faith in humanity, and that this was a bored garage mechanic at some point tying the rope into a noose knot, just out of boredom. No ill will was meant. I used to tie noose knots out of boredom in my basement. Not to hang or intimidate anyone. Just bored. But then I don't have the cultural context or history around those, so who knows...
