A few of the downtown pubs have been around for ages, too (e.g. Unicorn).

I always say you go to BP's to eat, not enjoy a meal. At least they have a few menu items that are decent. I agree it is awful. I gave up trying to find a decent menu item at Brewhouse.

Like everyone, loved Shanks when I was younger but as we all grew up, it stayed the same. After travelling down to the US and seeing these larger sports bars now and how awesome they can be, Shanks felt like a time capsule.

How long has The Cat’n Fiddle Pub been around for? I remember frequenting it in the early 90’s as a student.

Ya, same with Loco Lou's. They've been around forever. Thoguh apparently now they are Loco Lou's 2.0, so I don't know if we have to reset the age counter. Quite the rebranding.

Moose McGuires doesn't look very open and their website says they are closed and looking for a new location. Two positives from that I suppose:
1. hopefully the redevelopment of the old shopping plaza is proceeding.
2. with all the other businesses closing this could be an opportune time for business to find space and get a decent rate on rent. It might not be that tough for them to find somewhere to go.

I really hope they move south, those wings they have are the bomb. Grilling the hot wings after frying them, makes them so delicious. Their jerk flavour is awesome too.

The Black Swan is still around? That was the first bar I went to legally. I was there for about 10 minutes before 1 cowboy through another cowboy through a table.

I watched game 7 of the 1994 playoffs at the Bull & Finch at Southland and Elbow, and I'm pretty sure it had been around for a year or two before that. I think they redeveloped that whole mall in about 1991 or 92.

That was probably at the Ranchman's. (which is still around and has been since the 80's).

When the Black Swan opened (1990?) it was pretty upscale. Most of those early pubs were. But it has gotten gotten grimmer and grimmer as the years went by. I've been there a few times in recent years and at this point it's a genuine dive bar.
