Jeezuz christ people suck.
|
FBI investigation indicates the noose was already there as early as October 2019, probably someone tied a loop to the rope that's used to pull down the garage door for convenience reasons and got mistaken for a noose:

Yeah, right?
There are much easier knots that are better suited for that purpose. I mean, I guess it is possible, but I have lost faith at this point.
The good news is that even if that is true, at least NASCAR is showing that they are taking racism seriously.
It's actually been a pleasant surprise to see so many people from so many different background coming together over these issues.

It's good that Nascar investigated, but yeah there are pictures of that noose being up there since last year, so its not race motivated.

Since October... and someone points it out right as they are banning confederate flags? What a strange story. A lot of good shown, obviously. But a strange story.

NASCAR showed more support for Bubba Watson in four days than the NFL has shown for Kaepernick in four years.

Having seen the additional footage and screenshots of the Bubba Wallace incident, read the new reports, and listening to the interviews, this seems manufactured. The shots look like an exact replica of my storage garage. They loop those knots for ease to access, and unofficially a place to hang your lock. That's exactly the way my grandfather looped a knot to raise the door on his garage for his pickup.
I agree with the FBI investigation. This really has an awful smell to it, and I really don't want to believe someone would take advantage of what's going on in this way.
But I kinda believe they did. And if so, #### them for their selfishness right now.

Just caught Bubba Wallace's interview with Don Lemon (CNN). Totally doubled down on absolutely everything. If this goes sideways, which it already seems has sprinted in that direction, it is sufficiently damaging. Shot directly into the foot.

NFL "changed" recently too
Back when Kap was kneeling in the NFL Nascar teams said they would fire anyone who took a knee during the anthem.
change is good all around...not going to give them credit for being better than the NFL when it comes to racism

Assuming this is the same knot it clearly looks like a noose. If I was receiving a bunch of racial hatred and was in Alabama - I'd probably have come to same conclusion. They declared he wasn't a victim of a hate crime, not that the knot didn't look like a noose. What exactly are you accusing him of doing?

The facts seem pretty apparent here. Wallace obviously didn't plant it and wasn't even the one who saw it or reported it. It also wasn't directed at Wallace. It was a knot that was tied like a noose. Whether that was intended to be symbolic or not, we'll probably never know.
It was obviously unusual enough to catch the attention of the crew and of NASCAR before the FBI was brought in.

This is on the most distasteful comments in this thread. You've been "hearing" where, I wonder?

I'm entirely willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a person who has had completely different lived experiences in a different environment than myself. If what they have been showing is accurate, and if what the FBI investigation has concluded is true - either of which I have no reason to doubt - I would never think that loop was anything other than a hanging handle for a garage door. For a group of people that has dedicated their livelihoods to a profession that operates around garages that seems like a pretty big stretch to connect those dots, but I'm not him, his crew, or NASCAR.
I'm not accusing him of anything, but his interview last night amidst the findings and ongoing story raised flags of opportunism in my brain. This doesn't feel right, but I hope I'm wrong.

Isn't a noose self tightening? I'm no seaman, but if it was tied like an actual hangmans noose wouldn't it come undone if you pulled it and there was nothing in it?
We need a knot expert. Surely there's a sailor in here? lol

I've tied several nooses in my day. If you grab hold of the loop of the noose and pull, it won't tighten because the vertical line goes straight through the wraps. But if you say, put your arm through and pull down, if the resistance of the vertical line is enough, the tension will pull the noose tight. it does seem an odd place to use a noose, but maybe it isn't even one, and just looks like one. It's just a loop that doesn't tighten.

Did Bubba ever strut around wearing pig socks or Castro T-shirts? Nothing says “support me” like proudly wearing a shirt depicting a dictator that executed people and abused human rights.

They didn't support him when all he did was kneel though either.
