				Few day Gateway to BC

			Hello,

Me and a gf would like to go to BC for a 2-3 days, somewhere where there is a lake/beach so we can swim. She is not much of a camper, so we need somewhere with hotels. The place we were thinking about is Kelowna but was curious if someone knows somewhere else that is really nice that might be closer? We were also thinking of doing a wine tour one of the days so I heard Okanagan area overall is good for that, but any specific places someone can recommend?

thanks in advance

Inveremere is nice, and significantly closer.
The lake is a little chilly this time of year, but I think Okanagan lake can be pretty chilly as well.

If you are heading out to the Okanagan, I always enjoyed Penticton more than Kelowna personally.

Invermere is 3 hrs away. Beach, lots of restaurants/bars etc. Lots of little shops if you want that. No idea on the wine tour thing though.

Beware the water will still be bone chilling in the lake....same in Kelowna.

Yeah won't find anything for wine tours there. If you want both, you could try Creston/Moyie.

There are wineries as far north as Salmon Arm and Kamloops.

I could spend time every year in Naramata, near Penticton. Peachland is lovely too.

If you want to do a wine tour then like others have suggested Penticton/Kelowna area is probably the way to go. Lots of hotels and wineries in that area. Penticton has a few motels/hotels literally across the street from Okanagan Lake and there are a ton of wineries within a 10 minute drive, I think there are at least 30-40 in Penticton/Naramata, we go there every summer to hit up 3 or 4 that we haven't tried.

Basically if you're looking for a lake, beach and wine tours you can't go wrong.

2 nights? Don't bother driving to Kelowna or further. 3 nights? Slightly better. Just realize basically 2 full days will be spent driving.

Oh yeah, I'm sure its just an isolated incident that gets the attention, like always.
I was thinking of going to BC as well but thought we were not supposed to go due to the website

If people are coming from out of province specifically to see family and close friends it should be ok, even if they haven't given the green light yet here. I think it would be different if people from Alberta were coming here and flooding places together partying it up without social distancing, that would be frowned upon. But if people are being smart about it, especially just hanging out with family, I don't think it should be a huge issue.

Good advice.

Note also, Okanagan Lake can be chilly until July. Skaha Lake is warmer.
