Good poll. My cheat sheet in case anyone isn’t familiar with any of the entries:
McDonalds - The pictures all look like food. Look. Shakes should get thinner at room temp. Fries are really good but the Super Size Me guy got pretty messed up eating here too much. And what the hell is Grimace?
BK - Nothing make a gal say “go brush your teeth before makeouts” like the Whopper with its onions and secret sauce of ketchup mixed with mayo
And as for the king mascot, I’ll see whatever Grimace is and raise you - this is one of the most glorious moments in creepy bizarre fast food commercial excellence
Wendy’s - the baconator. So many slices of paper thin bacon, it actually adds up to a whole slice
Arby’s - 5 sandwiches for 5 dollars. Wtf? Yeah, that’s right. Puddy took Elaine there. “I had the roast beef”
A&W - their whole hormone free campaign was restating the regulation they are subject to, wasn’t it?
DQ - chocolate dipped cones are great. Mandatory to eat them once a year, early summer, then remember how unsatisfying their ice cream is. Repeat next year.
KFC - So greasy. Those weird fat hanging off the drumsticks always grossed me out. I don’t know what they are because the birds I get from the butcher don’t have them
Popeyes - even more sodium than Chick Fil A. Move over Colonel, we can make chicken unhealthy too
Subway - that weird smell of their bread that you smell from half a km away and say “there must be a Subway nearby”
Tim Hortons - it’s like Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, you can identify their current state or their direction but not both. So many reinventions and so many mediocre lunches. The new deluxe donut strategy is interesting
Domino’s - Pizza shouldn’t be cooked and delivered that quick
NSFW!
Little Caesar’s - their pizzas mirror the Red Wings of late. Not that great any more, and experiencing them is super cheap
Taco Bell - almost everything but the shells comes out of a caulking-style gun. Meat paste, bean paste, sour cream. Although all the new things are just variations using the same ingredients, 20 bucks could go a long way and wrapping a hard taco shell with a soft taco shell is ingenious
Chipotle - It’s kind of comparitively healthy, should be disqualified
Five Guys - yeah, like that other guy said, those fries are salty
In and Out - odd inclusion as it’s not local, unless I’m missing something
First of all, I might be the only guy who voted for Burger King, but it would be my first choice. I love BK! The Burger King is also hands-down the funniest mascot, and it's not close. When Floyd Mayweather had Justin Bieber and the Burger King for his walkout it was basically magical. Easily one of the most bizarre and hilarious moments in sports to me!
Anyway, I know BK is going out first round to McDonalds, and McD's win this whole thing in a walk. Still though...BK is the best.

I avoided A&W for years because of the commercials, but after trying it last summer out of necessity, they have shot up to the top of my list amongst the big chains. They and Popeyes are my go-tos now. Five Guys is still pretty good too.
Still prefer Shake Shack, In-N-Out, and Chik-fil-A, but those aren't local options.
Most North American fast food chains suck in North America. They are all better in Asia, except maybe McDonalds because their formula seems more globally standardized.
Really, it's a big step down in food quality getting this stuff in Canada vs getting it in Asia. Even Tim Horton's is way better in Shanghai. Any time I eat fast food in Canada I regret it.
Yeah if we're going to include In-N-Out then Shake Shack needs to be included. In a head to head between those two, it's no contest. Shake Shack takes it.

Also A&W is severely underrated. Their burgers are incredible for the price. Their fries are also some of the best out there. DQ? Meh. The burgers are edible I guess, but their ice cream kind of sucks.
The burgers are too salty and the onion rings seem like someone caked an onion in sawdust. Too crumbly. If they just cut back the salt on the burgers, they'd be awesome.
I don't think there are any Chipotles or In-N-Out places in Calgary.
I've never seen any of them. I ran a search and neither of them even showed up.
Comparatively, a quick search shows that there are 10 New York Friesin Calgary. There are 17 TacoTimes. Albeit, both of these are typically in malls.
It seems like there are options that would have made more sense than Chipotle or In-N-Out

A&W has a good breakfast sandwich in the bacon 'n egger and a root beer shake is pretty good. Other than that, complete trash. Worst fries in the business, too.

Only if you get it on the english muffin though. When they use the hamburger bun the bread ratio is totally broken.
