Some good news is that the cyclist who was caught on film aggressively taking posters away from a young child (probably 10 or 11 years old) doing something kind, trying to raise awareness in the form of George Floyd posters may have been identified, though not confirmed yet by the police. They have made progress though according to an interview on CNN and may have an official update this weekend. If Twitter is correct, he's - drum roll please - an ex cop!!

Is this really we were are? Defending Candace Owens? The same Candace Owens who defended Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany as being not entirely bad? The same Candace Owens whose anti-Muslim rhetoric literally inspired a mass-murder? The same Candace Owens who used her platform to advance the conspiracy theory -- without any evidence -- that mail bombs being sent to Democratic representatives were a left-wing plot to make Trump supporters look bad? That Candace Owens? Really?

From accusations of being a race traitor? Yes.

From accusations of being generally horrible and having awful opinions that should probably just be ignored, and not even rebutted? No.

But if you do want to engage with her, it's not okay to suggest that her skin colour makes it less acceptable for her to believe something. That is, inherently, a horrible position to try to take.

Candace Owens in the last month or so has:
- Downplayed the murder of Ahmaud Arbery
- Said Central Park Karen who called the cops on the guy birding was in the right
- Called out George Floyd

Have you heard of Candace Owens before today? I've been involved in discussion about Candace Owens for years unlike everyone jumping to her defense. This is not even really a hot take from her, lines up exactly with her stance. I was under the impression that the video had be sufficiently rebutted.

No worries, I'll take a permanent vacation from this thread and let the Canadians hash it out on the appropriate use of the word thug.

One of the few minority posters bullied out of the thread by a couple white guys policing race. Great job boys. Little on the nose don’t you think?

Yes, I was aware of her. I mostly ignore her, just like I do the other obnoxious people on the far right. She seems genuinely awful... And George Floyd, apparently, held a pregnant woman at gunpoint. You still don't get to kneel on a suspect's neck until he's dead. Candace Owens is an awful person. You still shouldn't call her a race traitor.

And no, I'm not suggesting that there's any equivalency of degree of badness in any of those actions. But is it really that hard to understand that the target of your ire being a bad person doesn't give you license to do or say horrible things to or about them? In the context of this thread, that's a tough message to get across?

I hope you don't. I've disagreed with a few of the things you've said, and agreed with others, but I do think you've added a lot of value to the discussion overall, and obviously there aren't a whole lot of people who can speak first hand about their experiences being African-American in this thread.

Yup. Candace Owens' entire shtick is that black people should be better than they are and if they are losing it's because they suck, not because of any systematic racism. Always victim blaming. She's trying the be the tough love mom. So this falls right into her wheelhouse that Floyd ended up on the ground because he sucks. Yeah he shouldn't have been killed and the cop should be charged for murder but that doesn't exclude that fact that he sucks and got himself on the ground.

Candace Owens is a sociopath who is well aware that there is a massive appetite from racist ring wingers to have a black person spouting their talking points. She is the black version of Ann Coulter. Be as controversial as possible and line her own pockets with millions of dollars. If there is a hell she would have a fast pass skip the line bracelet.

The City of Los Angeles has re-allocated a portion ($150m) of the LAPD budget as well.

edit: that 150m is being invested into minority communities

Not to mention that the CDC classifies pepper agents as a type of tear gas.
