Default Chris Cuthbert joins Sportsnet broadcast team

https://media.sportsnet.ca/2020/06/n...roadcast-team/

Quote:
“A true master of his craft, Chris’s voice has been at the centre of some of the country’s greatest hockey moments,” said Bart Yabsley, President of Sportsnet. “Chris’s stellar career achievements, positive attitude as a person and popularity with audiences make him a tremendous addition to our broadcast team and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class hockey coverage across Canada. Along with hockey fans coast-to-coast, we look forward to the return of the NHL and Chris’s debut on Sportsnet.”

This becomes the only redeeming factor for Sportsnet’s NHL coverage.

He better be back for the CFL calls when it resumes!

As bad as Sportsnet is, we have it good with Rick and Kelly. CC is icing on top of the cake.

Considering Sportsnet doesn't do CFL, no chance.

This is good.

Now fix your awful production quality. Tired of 480p quality video and awful sound.

Huge news for the NHL broadcasts - but my first reaction was sadness over losing him on CFL broadcasts. One of the best.

Wonder what the back story was here. Contract up? Realized he wasn't going to be doing any announcing for maybe a year? Curious if any other TSN talent is poached.

He’s so great. But I thought he left hnic because he wasn’t treated well/played second fiddle to hughson? And after SN cut costs by giving heave ho to kypreos, Shannon et al. Cut hurt can’t be cheap.

Best Hockey play-by-play there is. Glad he'll be doing HNIC.

He's not getting any younger (62) and the Rogers NHL deal still has 6 years left so I can understand why he left TSN. Surprising though that Rogers ponied up the money to bring him in considering all the cuts they have had to make this year.

Yeah I can see this basically being Hughson moved to the late games (his apparent Canuck love affair reignited) with Cuthbert getting the early (Leafs) game.

Randorf can do the Sens game on City TV

I also thought he was one of the TSN guys that re-upped with them after Sportsnet tried their first talent raid when they got the national deal.
