Life is an endless sequence of incrementally increasing disappointments. The sooner children learn and accept this the better off they'll be in the long run.

I know, it does totally suck though.

Any news regarding local sports starting up again soon?
I am waiting anxiously for my ball hockey season to resume.

Ouch. Life is not quite that excruciating. There are some bright spots mixed in there as well.

I hope youth outdoor sports can continue in some fashion over the summer.

I thought the city was going to possibly look at at opening rec facilities June 19th in phase 2? It would be limited users, but it's a start.

I think it was the province that was talking about this, but the City may have its own timetable.

As of now, rec centers are still listed as closed until August 31.

It is all very confusing. City said we have soccer socially distanced practices but CMSA says no with a very strongly worded email. I saw a parent get fined $1600 for have a few kids together. So who really knows.

News last night reported if the City proceeded with opening Rec centres it would likely be conditional on what type of activity. So for an arena (example they gave) things like figure skating and hockey practices might be allowed while games would not. Basically activities that can be done with social distancing.

		| Hockey Canada said in a statement the best approach for a resumption plan was for each member to work with regional public health authorities to determine the appropriate steps to return in areas that fall under their jurisdiction.
The sport's national body said it expects the timing for a return to the ice will differ among its members. Certain regions of the country are further along with plans to reopen and roll back restrictions related to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Hockey Canada's 13 members are: BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Saskatchewan Hockey Association, Hockey Manitoba, Hockey Northwestern Ontario, Ontario Hockey Federation, Hockey Eastern Ontario, Hockey Quebec, Hockey New Brunswick, Hockey PEI, Hockey Nova Scotia, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, and Hockey North.

FWIW There is a 3 on 3 hockey facility out by the airport. I saw a couple of the adult rec leagues asking if there was interest in doing a 3 on 3 league. The facility just posted on FB saying they are opening to adult shinny times starting July 2.

Interesting. The arena we play summer shinny at emailed us and said they were targeting mid July for reopening, but only for figure skating and skills based hockey (ie no contact practices). They have not been advised that anything else is allowed.

I know a couple rink managers from my past job and the ones I have talked to about re-opening have said there hasn't been a target date set.

Target ting may have been a poor choice of words. Anticipating might be better and they are making preliminary plans based on that in order to be better prepared should it happen.

Interesting, this was not published on their Twitter account, and their Facebook account only mentions that their summer programming is almost sold out.
