What we will see as these protests go on is more trouble as every idiot kid who doesn't give a tinkers about George Floyd will be turning out to the protests in order to 'have some fun', the trouble ends up causing an expectation of trouble that itself becomes a self fulfilling prophesy but there is no organization at all, I knew there would be trouble in Vancouver in 2011 long before the game started, all of my foster kids (who are the kind of kids that like to break things) were talking about 'do you think there will be another riot?', that conversation was happening all over Vancouver and it made trouble inevitable, and yes if the Nucks make another final if the VPD aren't totally on top of things there will be another riot in Vancouver solely because people expect it.
While not phrasing it as “how to start a riot”, the same concept applies:

I'm not aware I have ever defended any of these countries, and if you knew anything about left wing groups you would realise getting any of them to deviate slightly from whichever manifesto they adhere to is a decent into internecine feuds and factionalism, Antifa isn't a 'thing' it isn't a 'group' it doesn't have an organization at all, it is thousands of small wholly amateur organizations, most of which are just some kid on his facebook page who have only one thing in common and that is to oppose the far right.

I'm interested in why you do not agree with that. That's pretty well the definition I would use to label looters.

There are thousands and thousands of people here. This is no small protest.

Audience question: what percentage of people have masks on? Just curious.

I would say 90%. Very little social distancing though

Well... I went downtown for a bit. It's pretty much all white people which was interesting. They see me and it's like "oh an actual black person!" is out here let's chat him up... so it's cool being the star of the show.

Nobody really knows why they're here or can name anybody killed by police beside Floyd. Maybe that's okay, if they actually knew what they were supposed to be mad about that's when things tend to get ugly.

It's not ideal, but we have to start somewhere. Change comes with education, so if you're up for it, you have a platform to start helping that process.

My neighborhood was on alert last night in Gilbert AZ.. We're close to an upscale mall w/ apple store.

Pretty crazy having to clean the barrels on my two handguns to prepare to protect my family. In the event they targeted homes. This isn't a flex, I was legitimately worried and scared for me and my family.

Rioters would be crazy to do so in this state. most people are armed for home protection

Would be curious to see what Hinshaw has to say about the chanting, in particular...

The police profile us but don't really kill us in big numbers here - the systemic racism is more directed to indigenous populations. Will we march for them? I talked to people this morning. The hypocrisy is understandable... but there's work to be done than I can manage. I've lost my voice and people seem unable to talk to me from a feet away.

It's just as dumb for sure, even if for a greater cause.

Unfortunately, the virus doesn't know nor care why they are there.

If they're not taking proper precautions, yes.

I know I have a tremendous amount of white privilege saying this.....but I'm super worried about the covid spread from these protests. We *just* got the curve flattened.

Unfortunately I think we're going to be heading back to lockdown pretty soon.

Well I did my best to social distance. The vast majority are wearing masks. I haven't been out much but some things are worth the risk.
