Jesse Puljujarvi to Colorado for pick 33.

He is too talented to not take on this kind of risk. He had a great year overseas and if he can get out of Edmonton maybe he can turn it around. I made a similar move with Drouin, there is just too much talent there.

What a waste of a high pick, but made the call to recoup a high 2nd. He could still break out - so it's a good gamble by the Avs. But based on my draft rankings, I see some good players in the early 30s that I'm excited to grab

I was gonna post the dreaded ‘I would have offered more’ but I decided not too. But I guess in hindsight I just did?

But then I remember I made an almost identical deal with Minny a couple years ago (or maybe last year) for Julius Honka...that didn’t turn out too great for me.

Sure I hope Puljujarvi gets traded and improves but I just don't see it with him as a player. I don't get the impression that he thinks the game particularly well. He kind of reminds me of Yakupov.

With guys trending to bust it’s really hard to know when to pull the plug as their value can vanish damn quick
In this case I had a couple of offers of very late seconds so a high second seemed like good value
Sounds like I could have squeezed a late first (guessing 28) out of Philly but generally if someone steps up with a fair offer like Pat did...I take it

I wouldve done the same. I've hurt myself more often than not by waiting for other offers from GMs who showed interest and then losing out on an actual offer by a GM who moved on. I dont blame ya at all and think it was a smart move on both sides.

New York trades Derek Stepan and Michael Stone to Detroit for Joe Pavelski

Not a huge fan of Stepan, myself. Pavelski has a lot more upside IMO even with his down year this year.

Easy trade to make. Just freed up some cap and Stephan can do the same as Pavelski.
