I'm surprised that $5 million went so cheaply. I'd be interested in hearing how that conversation went. With key RFA's at F,D and in net, I'd want to hold onto that cap til after they signed.

I didn't mean to fleece the Canucks. It's what they offered and the market has been super weird with picks this summer.
Besides I'm thinking that 2nd should be pretty high, Minnesota is full of schmucks.

Ah, it's more for new GM's than anything. You and Van GM are both big boys, and if thats the deal you guys agreed with it's not a fleecing...
Maybe Van could have gotten more, but that's what everyone says after a deal!!

Well, since it got so much attention and people are curious:
The first ask Scorp wanted was $5 & Mike Reilly for the '21 2nd but I didn't want to part with Reilly.
Last year I had tried to do the same sort of deal with a few GM's asking for a late 1st rounder and was told each time I was way off on the price. So the 2nd seemed like the next logical step and I got a taker. Looking at it from our perspective we gained another 2nd round pick without losing any players or prospects. I guess how GMs value picks can change each year.
Anyways, was a little surprised by all the feedback, you win some you lose some - I'll ask for more next time!

I would caution against any conditions tied to ratings
There is no certainty we will use the same rating package and even if we do the ratings shift so a 70 one year is not the same as a 70 the next year
