I love a good burger, and I make a good burger... but come on, guys. It's a rib eye. Are you serious? This shouldn't even be close. Even a mediocre rib eye is better than a really good burger, as long as you cook it correctly.

Round 4 is up! Was the end of the hamburger reign an upset or a foregone conclusion?
With the final round, we have the hot and fast finisher in Ribeye vs the low and slow "motion of the ocean" Brisket.

Prime Rib is for winter in the Oven cooked using a reverse sear.
Brisket is for BBQ.

Take a look at the brisket I did a few pages back in the BBQ thread, when it's done right, it's almost unbeatable. I dont know if brisket can take down this well marbled goliath though.

Whatever the outcome I'll be happy. I voted ribeye but I love brisket.
Thanks to PaperBagger for making the poll. I think we should keep this up, but can I suggest we get nominations before making a bracket?

No worries, I enjoyed making it and the discussion it brought. I completely agree with your suggestion. Open it up a few days early for nominations then create the poll.
On a similar note, what would everyone like to see the next poll be? I've had a few ideas:
Beer
Pizzas
Cocktails
Video games
Favourite sport outside of hockey

I never got the appeal of prime rib. It's so fatty, spend half your time carving out an actual piece of meat and I'd toss like 1/2 the slice out. Even top-end places where friends get a prime rib and say it's the best just looks like a pile of fat to me. I'll take a rare tenderloin / filet mignon any day of the week. But I grew up eating deer more than cow so I like the lean meaty taste as opposed to needing fat for flavor.

Brisket is probably my favourite meat. It's very involved to cook one properly though, so your neighborhood pubs brisket will probably be awful.
I've heard big sky bbq in okotoks does a good one, I haven't tried it myself, but I've been to Hayden Block and it wasn't anything to write home about.

Big Sky was awful when I tried it. But have heard that it can be good. Your point is a good one though - for someone who has never had brisket before, it would be unfortunate for a first taste to be a poorly cooked one!

Brisket is severely overrated. Rib Eye all the way!
