Still no Sheryl Crow? Saw her live at Fort Calgary during Stampede a few years ago. Still crushed it. Still looked amazing. And she can shred the guitar.

Or fellow Canuck Alanis? I know Ironic gets some hate, but Jagged Little Pill still hits relatively near the top of best albums ever of most lists.

A few of my favorites, most of them Canadian.

Margo Timmins (Cowboy Junkies)

Michelle McAdorey (solo/Crash Vegas):

Sarah Harmer (solo/Weeping Tile):

Kate Fenner (solo/Bourbon Tabernacle Choir)

Erika Wennerstrom (Heartless Bastards)

Patti Smith

Lucinda Williams

Kris Abbott- guitarist for the Pursuit of Happiness. Saw these guys live a few times back in the day, and she's a f'n badass. Had a huge crush on her when I was a teenager.

Been listening to a lot of Sade lately.

But Rushmore for me would I guess be Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Annie Lennox and probably Kate Bush.

Good call having Amy Lee on there. I was never a fan of the band as a whole but her voice is amazing

I kind of wanted to shout out to Kim Gordon again. She is a legit bass player and is very underrated.

The Beaches are really good. I was lucky enough to see them on the c-stage at Riot Fest in Toronto a few years ago. Their stage show is theatric like old school 80s glam, but they have the musical chops to back it up.

Probably more of a ska band, but the Slits (RIP Ari Up) were one of the first bands that introduced me to "alternative" rock music.

Tegan and Sara (from Calgary!) are also pretty amazing IMO.

Another artist with a Calgary connection in Lowell. For whatever reason, she is more popular in Europe than NA.

Alvvays is another awesome Canadian group with a female lead.

Also worth mentioning is Alanis Morrisette. I won't post any videos, but her Jagged Little Pill album was hugely influential to the 90s music scene.

Big on the local scene. Also, they help organize the annual Femme Wave festival, and Hayley is currently music director at CJSW.

I agree. I loved that Album, and still enjoy many of the songs on it to this day.

Stumbled across this Alanis video awhile ago thought it was hilarious, but it also shows her ability to totally transform a song.
