I am excited to try Varsity out this week! I've been to this place in Ottawa called Colonnade Pizza a few times, it was outstanding, and Varsity looks and sounds very similar. I'm hoping it's worth the drive from Inglewood.

This has been my favorite pizza recipe to make at home. It's seriously foolproof (as long as you follow the instructions). It takes a lot of time for the dough to prove, but very minimal actual work.
https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/...za-recipe.html
I've made it every week, and the family loves it.
And for the kids:
Serious Eats also has a good recipe for extra crisp thin crust pizzas, using flour tortillas and cast iron skillet. This is perfect for a quick 15min lunch.

Tortilla crust pizzas or a quesadilla version of a pizza have been some of my go-to recipes when don’t feel like cooking. Usually I just pop it in the toaster oven though.

Tried it last night after reading about it here and really enjoyed it as well. My only complaint is it seemed to be a little on the small side, they certainly did not skimp on the toppings and cheese though so I guess that kind of makes up for it. We’ll definitely be going back.

Yeah, we basically have pizza once a week. Pizza night is Monday because I like having it with Monday Night Football.

Wait, they're actually open?! I would have had it a few times but assumed they were closed because they're a bar.

Got a couple of pies ordered from Noble Pie for Friday. They do a limited number each week and open up reservations at noon on Wednesdays, has been selling out every week it seems.
Looking forward to their NY style pizza, haven't had it since they first started up as Eighty-Eight got to be such a zoo to try to get into when there was pizza.

Had POW again the other day, still kicks ass. If they had more varieties and the ability to customize your pizzas through Skip, they'd probably close Chicago Deep Dish within a couple years.

So Skip the Dishes made it possible to get delivery from places that wouldn't deliver to us for whatever reason before the pandemic started which is pretty awesome.
Verns - Wasn't that impressed. I remember seeing the name pop up in this thread a few different times in the past, so we were pretty excited to try it out but in the end was dissapointed. It wasn't gross or anything but I expected it to be a lot better.
Canadian Pizza Unlimited - Tasted almost like a couple places I used to order from in the SE (Pizza 3000, Dillo's). Average at best.
Red Swan - Now this one I liked a lot. The sesame seed crust was surprisingly good. Have ordered from here a couple times now and probably will continue to do so.
Going to try out a couple other places in the next couple weeks. Anyone tried Crispy Crust Pizzeria or Sammy's in the SW? Been looking at them and a few others but god damn 25-30 bucks for a single 14" is kind pricey but I still might do it at least once to try it out.

Crispy Crust is probably my favourite place in the city. They dont deliver to the SE where we are so I will often make the drive to pick it up rather than order closer for convenience. Highly recommend

On top of Pizza, do you ever have other takeout options throughout the month with your family? McDonald's? Fried Chicken? Chinese food?
Or just strictly Pizza?

Sammy's is probably one of the best pizzas in the city. It is pricey but it's also loaded with toppings so fills you up way faster than a big chain pizza place

We really don't order out very much. Outside of pizza we might order out once a month on average for something like Vietnamese or Chinese food.

Vern's is definitely a quantity over quality kind of pizza. I find the pepperoni to have a weird bologna flavour and the sauce tastes a bit too much like ketchup. It definitely shows that its roots are deeply buried in Saskatchewan.
CPU is pretty generic pizza. It's fine. It's great when you need a drunken late night snack.
Sammy's is really good though.

Verns is a pizza that is best served cold, and not the one that is piled high with meats.
I think they have one that has a semi-normal amount of pepperoni on it.

We'll get take out, fast food, etc as a family for lunch, dinner, treats like ice cream after soccer, etc maybe a 2-4 of other times a week.
We have young kids and pizza/movie night has just become a 'thing' we do on Fridays. The kids rotate turns picking movies, pick toppings for 'their' pizza and we have a couple of go-tos that we pick up from on the way home from kids' activities on Friday... Just routine at this point.
Otherwise, the wife and I try and order something less kid-friendly a few nights a months after the kids are in bed as a mini date night.
All said, we probably only eat non-homecooked meals ~20 times a month.

Looks like POW made some changes to their menu. That peach and cream pizza didn't sound good at all and I couldn't bring myself to try it, guessing most people thought the same since they dropped it. Also others have said, and I thought the same, that the pulled pork on their Crime Wave was too mushy for a pizza, looks like they swapped that out for prosciutto. I might have to swing by there tomorrow I think.
