Milan Lucic on Spittin Chiclets Podcast
Haven't had a chance to listen yet but Milan Lucic is the guest on the most recent Spittin Chiclets podcast.
I know a lot of people can't handle Biz's shtick, but looks like there's lots of Flames talk

I wish Biz would just shut up and let his guests talk.
At least RA and Whitney pick their spots.
Looch was a great interview though

Luc had 85% grade on his Chem 11. That's pretty good! Big guy with a brain.

Too many people make the mistake of taking him seriously. Just laugh along like you would at a clown and enjoy the rest of the show
Edit: Don't mean to tell people what to like, I get why some don't. But if you're looking for insider info and breakdowns of the game this isn't the place, this is just hockey fun

Great interview. I love how he wouldnt comment on Gaudreau's diet and quickly started talking about his 60 flex stick.

Loved his response to the whole Kassian thing he got flak for.
"What was I supposed to do? Come off the bench and get a 10 game suspension?"

That part felt like he confirmed a lot of the rumours that he doesn't play ex teammates hard. I get that it's hard to do that to friends, and he can't just come off the bench, but there are other ways to go about it so one of our top scorers doesn't have to fight a dumbell that McDavid bounces pucks off of. It sounded like a guy that doesn't completely understand what he needs to do to stay in the league. Reminds me of Rene Bourque.

It’s gotta be hard to transition from what you were and believe you still are to accepting what role you are now. I’d wish he would have done more but I don’t blame him as that had never been his role before in that way. Power forward not overpaid enforcer.

Run Oilers skill players until an Oiler takes exception, and then beat him up. Is Lucic new to the NHL?
A big part of his job at this point is to intimidate the opposition and protect his skilled teammates. If he won't do that job against the Flames' biggest rivals, it substantially reduces his value to the team.

Could've come off the bench and done SOME goddamn thing. He didn't have to force a fight, but he could've checked someone or shoved somebody after a whistle. Otherwise he may as well take a 10 game suspension. I like Lucic and the trade, but there is no excuse for his turd of a performance against the no-good.

Seemed like Biz was just more excited than normal because he's talking to an active player that he relates to in play style and toughness. Didn't bother me too much and was a decent interview.
There has been some great episodes lately. I really like Getzlaf and Prust for being open and funny.

I disagree with his reaction to that game. No, he shouldn't have come off the bench and earned a suspension - those days are long gone in the NHL, and I am sure he knows that people weren't criticizing him for going off the deep end. What he could have done is played angry the rest of the game. There were a lot of Oilers that were going after Tkachuk that game trying to get in his grill, and guys like Nurse chirping and trying to intimidate throughout the game. That was a physical game that Lucic found a way to not participate in.
What got to me most was towards the end of the game, Lucic was in front of the opposing net - the goalie made the save, and I thought for SURE there was going to be some scrum. The game was essentially over by the score, and it was almost like Nurse expected him to 'do something'. Lucic just stood there, didn't even look at anyone, and skated out from the front of the net. No push, no shove, no facewash, nothing said, no stares given - absolutely nothing. That's where I really felt Lucic didn't live up to his 'responsibilities' so to speak as a teammate. No, I don't think that he should have grabbed someone and started swinging - that's what that POS Kassian did - I think that's reckless and dangerous, and I don't want a Flame - I don't want ANY Player - doing that in a game. What I think he should have done is started pushing and shoving and seeing if he can intimidate, and perhaps things would have escalated and then a fight would break out. Even just some shouting, letting the Oilers know that the next game he would be collecting on some unpaid debts.
Heck, even Rinaldo in the game that Tkachuk and Kassian fought let Kassian know that he wants a turn. He ended up not fighting him, but he at least said something, and throughout that game you could notice Rinaldo's energy level.
As I said, after that notorious game, Lucic did a really solid job for the rest of the season (minus Oilers games), and I don't have a single criticism to throw his way. I think he was a heck of a teammate the rest of the season, and there were some nights that his effort level and 'give a crap' meter were the highest on the team. Just that one game in particular almost made me irrationally hate him. That was an incredibly emotional game for both teams, and Lucic seemed like the player most devoid of emotion.

The only reason Lucic doesn't get an A-plus from me is his lack of aggression against the Oilers. And you'd think that would be an easy thing to improve upon.
Everything else, though:
— Good on the PP
— Great hitter against 29 teams
— Great team guy
— Solid defensively
— Precise passer with good positioning
There's a lot to like with him. He just needs to step it up against Edmonton and I would be 100% happy.

I don't want Lucic gooning things up -- but I do want him to be ornery. Give people a shove. Get in someone's face. Drive hard for the puck. Even your friends will understand you're playing your game, and it's no hard feelings afterward. I don't begrudge a guy for having friends, and I don't want guys being reckless out there.

Messages like this depress me. It's just accepting mediocre. People remember championships and I'd like the flames to win another one before the team moves or I die. As fans we have to want more...so no more guys that bring intangibles to the room on the roster and fans justifying the move as "he's doing his job and I'm happy". Ugh if COORs original is your favourite beer you're probably a mediocre sports fan too.

I can do you worse, my preferred beer is PBR.
Also..... overpaid guys at the tail-end of their careers win championships all the time, Alex Steen did it just last year. Looch isn't causing any problems and I would call him a net positive.

The problem with Lucic isn't Lucic, it's that he's paid about 3 mil too much. Other than that my complaints are minor. Much bigger needs on this team right now to worry about

He probably could have killed someone and no Oiler would engage. End of the day any team familiar with him knows to ignore him. He said basically the same.

Yea, there is not one Flames fan that will deny he's overpaid by a few million+ but there should also not be one Flames fan who isn't happy with how he's played.
He's played as well as I could've possibly expected him to and I loved the trade when it happened so I had higher expectations than most.

PBR is the best beer ever brewed and Lucic is a beauty. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
